With the Fourth of July right around the corner I thought I would share some patriotic recipes with you all! Let me know if the comments if you make any of them 🙂
What you’ll need:
One container of strawberries cut in half
One container of blueberries
White chocolate covered pretzels
Start but putting strawberry pieces in a horizontal line being sure the leave space on the left of the line for the blueberries.
Below it place a line of the same length of pretzels. Continue until you have 6 total rows (3 of strawberries and 3 of the pretzels)
Make a row of strawberries that spans the entire dish. Follow up with pretzels until you have a total of 13 stripes.
Cut the top off of the blueberry container then place in the opening.
** I used white chocolate covered pretzels but you could also use bananas to get the white stripe. I chose pretzels since I’m not a banana fan.
** I used a 13″ x 9″ baking dish since that’s what my grandma had on hand when I made it last year.
What you’ll need
**You could use raspberries if you want, the grocery store did not have a good selection when I was there.
**If you are making this for a crowd I recommend getting a large tub of yogurt.
Place two scoops of yogurt in the bottom of the glass.
Add a layer of blueberries on top.
Add an additional two scoops of yogurt then add strawberries.
Finish the parfait by adding one scoop of yogurt on top of the strawberries.
Patriotic Puppy Chow
What you’ll need
9 cups of Chex, personal preference (I used rice)
1/4 cup butter
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cup powder sugar
1 bag red, white and blue M&Ms (I accidentally bought peanut butter so use whatever kind you like!)
Measure out the Chex into a big bowl and put to the side.
Melt the chocolate chips, butter and peanut butter over low heat on stove. Stir occasionally while it melts.
Add the vanilla to the pot on the stove and mix well.
Pour the chocolate mixture over the Chex and stir to coat the cereal evenly.
Empty bag of M&Ms into the bowl and shake to mix everything.
