A Book Filled Tuesday

Happy hump day! Am I the only one who gets excited for Wednesdays? I feel like it’s close enough to the weekend that the work week doesn’t seem so long. I hope you all have a great day 🙂

Do you ever get shown something once then don’t use it for a while before you have to use it again? That was me yesterday at work. I have a big report that gets put together every year based on the company’s sales data. The packages get compared and I have to use a pivot table in Excel. I had never used a pivot table until I got this job and I was pretty excited about figuring out how to do it on my own. I know how silly it sounds but I worked pretty hard on it so I was glad it worked out the way it was supposed to.

After work I stopped by the library quickly. I honestly read books very quickly so I’m very grateful the library is on my way home from work. I picked up three new books. To keep track of books I want to read, I use Goodreads. It’s a website that lets you create lists of books that you want to read, are currently reading or have read. You could even create a list for a book club if you are in one! I love it because I’m friends with my mom on it so I can see what books she adds to her lists and get ideas from there.

When I got home I had a few chips with salsa before changing into pjs. I cleaned the bathroom and my makeup brushes (glamorous I know 😉 while doing a face mask. I recently bought this one off of Amazon after seeing it in different Pinterest posts and Buzzfeed articles. I’ve only used it twice but I really like it thus far! Since you mix the powder with water and apple cider vinegar, I think this container will last me a while which is an added bonus considering the jar is about $11. While $11 is not that expensive, I don’t like when I buy an inexpensive mask that doesn’t last long at all.

For dinner, we made steak and mashed potatoes with some salad. I wish I could say that I make the potatoes from scratch but I’d be lying *insert monkey covering his eyes emoji*. That’s actually a goal of mine, is that weird haha? I know that homemade ones are healthier than the packaged instant ones but I’m nervous to bite the bullet and do it for some reason. Plus instant ones are so much easier to throw together quickly.

After dinner I got all set on the couch and started to read a new book I picked up at the library Sunday. What I didn’t know is that it’s part of a series, oops! It seems like it’s one of those book series where you don’t have to read them in order. No major plot details relate in the books but small things are slightly vague so it makes me feel like I’m missing minor details, but it doesn’t bother me. So far I really like it! If I’m being honest I’ll probably finish it tonight or tomorrow. I told y’all I read fast! When I started to get tired I cuddled up next to Alex and fell asleep.

  1. I read super fast too! Once I sit down and read, I finish a book within a couple days 🙂 Let me know when you read the Gillian Flynn book – it’s super intense!
I completely agree with you about homemade mashed potatoes being a pain! To make it easier, I don’t even peel the potatoes and use a hand-mixer to mash them…just add a little milk, butter, sour cream, salt, and pepper, and you’re good to go!

    1. That’s exactly how I am with reading. I hate leaving a story unfinished for too long. I will definitely let you know what I think! I read “Gone Girl” by him but wasn’t a huge fan so I’m hoping this will be better.
I need to suck up my “fear” (I don’t think it’s a fear just me being a tiny bit lazy) and just make them homemade. I love the taste of homemade ones so I’ll try your method.
      Have a great day Erinn!
