My workout yesterday was 2 x 1 mile at a tempo pace. And it sucked. I barely hit my pace for the first mile and was a little over 30 seconds slower on the second mile. I’m not saying this for pity, far from it. I’m sharing this because I think it’s easy to think that everyone always has amazing workouts based on social media. That’s far from the truth for majority of people though. Some runs are great, you feel amazing and hit every pace you set for yourself. But some runs suck, you feel awful, miss your paces, and you want to cry and quit. Finishing the run is the important thing. I couldn’t quit so I pushed really deep to finish as strong as I could. I would be way more unhappy had I quit than just running slower than planned.
When I got home, I stretched while eating a peach and drinking water. I got blisters again. Do any of you get blisters? I wear socks specifically made for working out so they wick away moisture and got my shoes fit at a running specialty store at my parents home town. Granted that was a few years ago but I’ve just bought the most recent update on the Brooks Ravennas when I get new running shoes. If you have any tips for not getting blisters please let me know in the comments! I’m really open to suggestions.
I also ate my last peach. Hopefully they’re on sale at the grocery store again so I can buy some more. They’re nice for the afternoons where I want a sweet snack. I showered and put my pjs on before taking my epsom salt bath. I’m hoping that by being better about those my blisters will go away so fingers crossed! I packed my lunch before getting stuff ready for dinner.
Dinner was leftovers! When you guys plan meals do you factor in leftovers? I swear leftovers are a blessing for when I’m starving. Last night I wanted all of the food so jut reheating was much faster than cooking. I made a pulled pork sandwich with rice and a salad on the side. It was just as good tonight as it was when I first had it a few nights ago.
After dinner I poured myself a glass of wine and got ready to read my book. Between Wednesday night and lunch yesterday I was about a quarter of the way through the book already! Liane Moriarty has such a good writing style in my opinion and she keeps my attention. I foamed rolled too. Last night was three nights in a row with no pain in my leg. Yay! It’s the little things friends.
I got in bed and couldn’t help myself from finishing the “Gilmore Girls” episode I watched while doing my epsom salt bath. Alex’s mom and sister got me into the show and I’ve almost finished it! Well almost finished the original part. His mom mentioned wanting to watch the Netflix remake together so I may have to find a new show in a few weeks.
