Happy hump day! We’re halfway through the week. It’s supposed to be hot in New Jersey today so maybe a pool visit is in store for me this afternoon. Have a wonderful day 🙂
I started off Tuesday with a smoothie and scrambled egg. The smoothie had frozen strawberries, blueberries, and banana, chia seeds, a scoop of peanut butter and milk. It really hit the spot and accompanied with the egg kept me full until lunch at work.
I swear, it has been gray or raining at least one day a week the past month or so and I’m so over it!! It’s August, I want the sun and blue skies not gray skies. When the weather i s like this, I think it’s easy to feel blah sometimes and that’s how I felt. Something about looking out of my office’s window and seeing pouring rain does not help my mood.
When I checked the weather in the morning, it said there was 55% chance of storms when I left work so I honestly wasn’t sure if I would get my run in. Although it was drizzling, there were no black clouds in the sky so I headed out for a run and I’m glad I did! I ran 25 minutes easy and didn’t look at my pace. I was surprised when I finished and the two full miles I ran had the exact same pace. The humidity definitely made the run harder than it should’ve been but I expected high humidity after rain all day.
I got home and stretched, shower and unpacked my bag from work. Instead of unpacking my tupperware from lunch and tea mug, I’ve found that waiting until after a run helps to get me out the door faster. I hung out a bit before it was time to get dinner ready. Taco Tuesday was happening at the apartment last night. The spread included ground beef, lettuce, cheese, avocado, sour cream and homemade salsa. The salsa is super easy to make so let me know if you want me to share my recipe next time I whip up a batch! Unfortunately, I forgot to heat up black beans but I did not miss them. The avocado definitely helped to fill me up.
I finished “All is Vanity” and did not expect what happened in it to happen. As to not spoil the book for anyone who would like to read it, I won’t go into detail why. My next book to read is “Luckiest Girl Alive” by Jessica Knoll. It’s about a 28 year old, Ani FaNelli, who lives in New York with her fiance. She is planning her wedding and getting ready to film a documentary about her high school. Something happened when she’s there that has been a secret. Jessica Knoll talks from the present as well as from Ani’s high school days. While I’m only about 50 pages in, I enjoy it thus far and am excited to see what happens and see if I’m correct in what I think the secret is.
Alex wanted to watch the movie “Sicario” so I watched the trailer and agreed to watch it with him. The movie is about an FBI agent played by Emily Blunt who is enlisted to join an cross agency government task force to tackle the war on drugs. Josh Brolin plays the head of the task force. While the movie was good, we felt the trailer was deceiving. We were under the impression it would be more of an action movie and while there was a little action, the movie was definitely more of a drama. If you know that going in then I think the movie is a good one.
Question of the day: What do you like to do on a gray and raining day?
