Happy Tuesday! I hope you had a wonderful Monday. Have a great day 🙂
I’m slowly trying to wake up early so that 1) I don’t feel as rushed in the morning and 2) so I can eventually start to workout in the morning. By slowly I mean, I’m setting my alarm 5 minutes early every week or so to get my body used to it. Luckily for me, it gives me some extra time to make breakfast in the morning. I’ve been on a smoothie kick recently and yesterday was no different. I put strawberries, peanut butter, chia seeds, some milk plus frozen blueberries and bananas in the blender. I also made a scrambled eggs and topped it with some hot sauce.
Did you know there was a solar eclipse yesterday?? I kid since it was such a big news story. New Jersey had about 75% or so totality which is a bummer since it wasn’t the full event but still enough to make a difference. No one at work had the special glasses but the maintenance man came to our rescue. He brought us a welder’s mask to use to protect our eyes. I had no clue until I heard it on the radio this morning that a welder’s mask would do the same job as the glasses. I definitely thought it would’ve gotten darker out but it just kind of seemed cloudy when it was the fullest by us. This is my inner science nerd talking but I thought it was so cool to see!
After work I had 4 miles on the schedule. Two were normal and the last two had me incorporating all out sprints then relaxing for the rest of it. I was pretty tired at the end and ended up enjoying the workout more than I thought I would. I got home and stretched before hopping in the shower.
For dinner, we grilled some chicken and paired it with rice and a salad. Alex wanted to have barbecue sauce on it and while we both enjoy the flavor marinated chicken gets, we though barbecue sauce might be near impossible to clean off of our George Foreman grill. Instead we seasoned the chicken breasts with some garlic powder, seasoned salt and black pepper and topped it with a little barbecue sauce once done. I added mine after I took the picture. It was really good and hit the spot on such a hot summer day!
Once dinner was done, I was getting my lunch ready for tomorrow when my mom called. She wanted to hear about how we hit a deer. I already texted her about it because she asked how dinner was but of course moms love to hear about events like that. When we hung up, I started working on my post. Alex asked me what I was doing and when I told him he replied “you’re burning toast?’. He then decided to call me plain toast. Oh how wonderful boyfriends are…love you hun ❤ Thanks for giving this post a title Alex!
I grabbed my book to finish. As I’ve mentioned before, I read during my lunch at work since no one eats at the same time I do. Today I started “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas” by John Boyne. Both the book and the movie have been on my to read/watch list for a while now and I finally picked it up from the library. Would anyone be surprised if I said I was almost done with it? Boyne writes from the point of view of a 9 year old so the language is pretty simple but it is well written.
Alex and I were both pretty tired so when he suggested cuddling up in bed and watching tv, I happily agreed. We watched two episodes of “Arrested Development” before calling it a night. My inner 80 year old was pretty happy to be in bed shortly after 10.
Question of the day: Did you see the solar eclipse?
