Happy Friday! I saw the video below on Facebook yesterday and thought it summed up how I feel about today being Friday perfectly. Have a great day 🙂
Yesterday morning started off with some overnight oats. I made chocolate peanut butter cookie dough overnight oats. All I added was a little bit of cocoa powder to change up the flavor a bit and it was delicious. One thing I love about waking up early is that I’m able to watch the news a little bit. When I was in high school, I would always watch CBS This Morning with my dad before heading off to school. The reason I love this morning news show in particle is their eye opener, “Your world in 90 seconds” as they refer to it. These 90 seconds summarize everything that is important in the world and US news so I can feel informed even if I don’t read in depth about a topic.
I realized that I never share what I eat for lunch. Truth be told, I eat the same thing every day and figure no one would want to see it repeated all the time. But since I’ve never shared, I thought I would today! I start off with a peanut butter sandwich then have carrots and pretzels with some spicy hummus. This may seem small but it’s what works for me 🙂 About 90% of the time I will have a Greek yogurt as an afternoon snack as fuel for my run and to keep me full until dinner.
If you’ve been reading the past few weeks, you may remember that I have had a lot of trouble with tempo runs. Well everyone I finally hit my paces!! To say I was excited is an understatement. I made a few tweaks to my routine that I think really helped. First off, after a warm up I did some high knees and leg swings to really loosen up. Secondly, I thought of the tempo portions as just half mile stretches to make it easier on my mind. Finally, I ran the tempo portion completely at a local park and cooled down home. Granted the weather was perfect for a run but I’d rather think that it’s because I’m getting stronger and not the weather that I hit my paces 😉 If you’re having trouble hitting a certain pace or lifting a certain amount of weight keep trying! I promise you’ll get it.
For dinner, I heated up some leftover pulled pork and threw a potato in the oven to roast. It really hit the spot, mostly because there was almost no cooking involved for me. I also had a big bowl of salad with my meal. Since I’ve started having salad every night, I feel like my dinners fill me up more and I like that I get more veggies in my diet which is great.
My booty and upper body were pretty sore from my bodyweight workout that I did Wednesday. I think foam rolling hurt just because my arms were too sore to hold me up lol. I still did it after dinner though knowing that it’s what my muscles need. If you know how to use a foam roller on your upper body please let me know! The rest of my night was spent reading on the couch before heading to bed.
Question of the day: Does that little boy represent your Friday dance? If not, let me know what you’re Friday dance is!
