All That And A Broken Washing Machine

Happy Monday! I have a feeling I will be pretty slow today after last night’s Game of Thrones episode. I write my posts the night before so this is just a guess. (Hi! It’s Monday morning and I surprisingly wasn’t that tired.) Enjoy your Monday πŸ™‚

I woke up at 6:35am yesterday morning which makes me think I will never be able to sleep past 7 again. Although I say that and I’m sure I’ll start “sleeping in” again within the next few weeks. For breakfast, we made some waffles. I brewed a cup of cranberry green tea to enjoy and it was great. The one plus to having the weather be cool in the mornings is I don’t feel ridiculous drinking a steaming mug of tea.

Sunday is my laundry day. The past few weeks, the clothes have come out of the washer soaked. Soaked as in “I can squeeze water out of them into the sink” soaked. Alex looked at the washer and realized that the drum wasn’t in place and the spin cycle isn’t working so it’s broken. Since we only do laundry once a week, I had another load to do. Luckily we live 10ish minutes away from his parents so we drove over to do our laundry there while we ran errands. A broken washing machine is so annoying and I was not too happy (as you can see in the picture) but it happens right?! I’m very grateful we live so close to his family so we can do laundry there until it gets fixed.

We ran our errands and circled back to his parents to put the clothes in the dryer. While there Alex looked in his parents fridge and saw they had two slices of leftover pizza..so we helped ourselves πŸ˜‰ Free pizza is the best pizza right? Once our clothes were in the dryer we came home. Alex had to work on stuff for a job interview so I figured out some books I wanted to get from the library and gathered up books to return. I swung back to his parents to pick up our dried clothes then headed to the library to get books for the week.

While out, I also went to Trader Joe’s to pick up a few things. Every time I go I get sad that it’s far away but then my wallet knows it’s a good thing. I went in for my favorite snack bars and left with $32 worth of items, oops! Their produce is really cheap though so maybe I’ll make the drive there more often. I grabbed a bunch of their fruit bars which are sweet and are made with just fruit. I picked up some of the apple and strawberry flavor as well as the apple and mango flavor. Normally I don’t like a ton of sugar in any bars I eat, but since this is just fruit I figure natural sugar is better than added sugar right??

I got home and folded the laundry. Sundays is my day to chop up and bag my carrots for my lunch during the week. Instead of just packing my lunch for Monday, I did Monday and Tuesday yesterday. Alex and I are going to Philadelphia for a fun show that I will definitely share more about in tomorrow’s post. But going to Philly means a late night and I wanted to prep ahead as much as I could.

Once lunches were packed and carrots bagged, I got on the couch to read. I’m about halfway through my book and really enjoying it. Alex finished up his interview prep so I heated up leftover pasta from Friday. After that, I read some more and we talked before getting comfy for the season finale. During the episode, I stretched and foam rolled my legs since they started to feel tight. Was I the only one who wasn’t completely shocked by the episode? Alex and I felt like nothing was that surprising. No spoilers for those who haven’t watched!

Question of the day: Do you prep lunches on Sunday? I’m curious how other people tackle lunches for work.Β

  1. Our dogs usually won’t let me sleep past 6am, so no sleeping in for me either. Me too with Trader Joe’s, our closest one is a bit of a drive and I haven’t been going much lately. My lunches usually end up being dinner leftovers. Happy Monday!

    1. Trader Joe’s has some of the healthiest frozen meals that I’ve seen. Next time I go, I might grab some because it never hurts to have some in the freezer just in case. Dinner leftovers make great lunches.

Have a great day Christine πŸ™‚

  2. I hate it when the washer/dryer are broken! Luckily they are not super complicated to fix! Lucky your boyfriend’s parents live so close!
I don’t usually prep lunches, but I have a lot of grab-n-go stuff ready when I pack lunches in the morning.
    Have a great day!

    1. I’m hoping the technician our landlord calls can fix it Thursday when they come! It is very lucky since I could go in and out while running errands instead of having to wait at a laundromat with our laundry.
Having grab-n-go items are great for busy mornings.
Thanks for stopping by, enjoy your Monday πŸ™‚

  3. I usually prep my lunch the night before! So I only prepped today’s lunch last night, not all of my lunches for the week. I feel like things stay fresher that way.

Hope you have a great Monday, Maureen!!

    1. I hope that the landlord pays for it so fingers crossed he will. It was good but I was hoping for a cliff hanger since that’s how the other seasons have ended. I can already tell it’ll be a long wait for the next season.

      Have a great day!

  4. That pasta looks absolutely delicious. I used to prep lunches on Sundays but now I just prep them quickly before going out to work, or the day before while cooking dinner. Have a great day:)

    1. It’s delicious and easy which is awesome. Just some Italian sausage, broccoli, garlic, red pepper flakes and olive oil. It’s great you have enough time to prep lunches in the morning. I would never be able to get out the door on time.

Thanks Nathaly πŸ™‚ Enjoy the rest of your night!
