Happy Thursday! Does anyone else feel off this week since Monday was a holiday? I feel like it shouldn’t be Thursday but here we are. Have a great day 🙂
Unlike Tuesday morning, waking up yesterday was much easier. I woke up felling refreshed and ready to tackle the day. For breakfast I made a smoothie and scrambled egg. I felt like I hadn’t had fruit in so long (even though I ate a ton of grapes over the weekend) so a thick smoothie tasted extra good.
As I mentioned a few weeks ago, Alex and I were doing a 30 day no alcohol challenge. Yesterday was the first day we could drink. I didn’t feel a need to drink but I figured if Alex was going to celebrate the end of it, then I should too. If you want a post next week about how we both feel now that the challenge is over please let me know! I’d be more than happy to work on one for you all 🙂
For dinner, I made a stir fry with chicken, broccoli, an orange bell pepper with General Tso sauce. When I was thinking of meals for the week, I didn’t purposefully plan to have burrito bowls followed by stir fry but it worked out well. I made extra rice Tuesday night so I didn’t have to make it again the next night and it made dinner that much quicker to prepare.
Both before and after dinner I read “Below Stairs” by Margaret Powell, a memoir about her time as a cook and kitchen maid in England. I have been working on it since Monday and finished it last night. I’m a huge fan of “Downton Abbey” and this book inspired it. Maybe I was too into the idea that it would be like the show with a lot of drama but I just thought this book was okay. Definitely interesting to get someone’s perspective of life during that time period but not something I’m going to run around recommending.
Alex finished up what he was working on then we cuddled on the couch while watching an episode of “Burn Notice”. When the episode finished we crawled into bed. I had every intention of doing a face mask last night but that didn’t happen so maybe I’ll do it tonight!
