I Think Summer Is Ending

Happy Tuesday! Thank you for stopping by the blog today! Have a wonderful day πŸ™‚

It felt weird waking up in Alex’a parents house, even though I have slept there plenty of times before. I guess when you’re used to home anything feels weird. The only down side to house sitting is that it’s farther away from work than our apartment. Luckily I wasn’t too rushed to get out the door! Guys – fall is here in New Jersey. It wasn’t even 50Β° on the drive to work, I had the heat on! Granted the heat was to help get rid of condensation on the car’s window but still. I hope this doesn’t mean the winter will be brutally cold.

I left work a little early to go to a doctor’s appointment. Does anyone else feel like all of their yearly check ups fall around back to school even though you’re done with school? No, just me? Okay haha. But seriously I should work on adjusting them so appointments don’t fill up so fast. I had a goal to be out on my run by 5 but of course I got stuck behind a super slow driver so I missed the goal. After my two miles, I came back and dug into some watermelon as a snack. I’m trying to soak up the last bit of summer by having the quintessential summer fruit a few more times!

Alex’s parents have some premarinated meat in their freezers so we took out a teriyaki pork tenderloin to grill. To keep it real for just a minute, Alex and I planned all of our meals around what we could grill since we’re only allowed to have an electric grill in our apartment. Nothing against an electric grill but it’s not the same as a true grill. Alex was completely in his element last night out by the grill. Oh my gosh, I forgot how good grilled pork tenderloin tastes! The marinade made it so tender and juicy. I’m not even mad about the leftovers I can enjoy later in the week πŸ˜‰

Once dinner was cleaned up I started to type of this post. Alex was working on school work so I looked at potential movies we could watch afterwards. I also read my book for a bit! I raided the bookshelves in the house for a book to read and landed onΒ “Fate and Furies”Β by Lauren Groff. It follows a couple over their marriage of 22 years and then something happens to test their marriage. I know that’s not a very good review but I just started it. We decided to watchΒ “The Accountant”Β with Ben Affleck, Anna Kendrick, and J.K. Simmons. It’s a good movie! We only watched about half since it was getting late, and I dozed off for a bit oops. It wasn’t even 10 o’clock when that happened so if anyone has ways to not fall asleep while watching a movie at night, help a girl out.

Question of the day: What is one fruit (or other food) that always reminds you of summer?Β

  1. I’m all about strawberries in the summer! Also so jealous of your grilling setup right now; I don’t have a grill at my current apartment and my parent’s grill is wayyyyyy too complicated for me to use.

    1. Strawberries are a go to for me in the summer too! I think it’s going to be hard for a certain boy to leave the grill next week… haha but I agree. Grills are too complicated so I prepare everything else. If you want the grill experience try a George Foreman! We have one and it works well.

Have a wonderful day Kerri πŸ™‚

  2. It was cold here too! I’m not ready to be cold all the time :/
We just watched The Accountant too and my husband really liked it! We also watched Snowden over the weekend and though it was so good! And crazy scary at the same time!
I love peaches in the summer πŸ™‚
    Enjoy your day!

    1. Me neither! I’m just glad it warms up once the sun has been out for a while.
I think Snowden would be something Alex and I would like so maybe we’ll check it out soon. Peaches are so yummy! Is it bad I just started eating them this summer lol.

Thanks Erinn! Have a good one πŸ™‚

  3. I’m in complete denial! But moving from Delaware to the west side of Maryland has helped me enjoy fall…being so close to the beach I was always so sad!! Pineapple and peaches always makes me think of summer! Have a great day!

    1. I’m not ready for such cold temperatures in the morning. That makes sense although being close to the beach definitely has it perks during the summer! Pineapple is SO good, I just wish it wasn’t so hard to cut.

Thanks! Enjoy your Tuesday Amanda πŸ™‚

  4. I love a mix of watermelon, cantelope, and grapes in the summer time. And gosh I don’t know what I would do without my grill. I usually cook on it until it’s snows, lol. Enjoy all those meals while you can!

    1. I love grapes in the summer, especially frozen ones since they are a healthy dessert option. I can’t wait until we have a house in a few years so we can have a real grill! We’re definitely going to soak up the use while we have it this week.

      Have a great day πŸ™‚

  5. YES Fates and Furies is the best book ever!! Seriously one of my favorites πŸ™‚ I hope you enjoy!

And yummm that watermelon looks amazing. I need to eat more watermelon before it goes out of season! It’s been super chilly here in Boston, too.
