A Sunrise Run

Happy Sunday! How’s your weekend so far? I hope it’s going well and you’re doing something fun. Have a great one πŸ™‚

I woke up Saturday morning and did not want to get out of bed for my run. Does that happen to you ever? I knew I would feel better if I did so I got up and changed to go out. Before morning runs, I eat a piece of toast with peanut butter. I had 6 miles to go and decreased my time with each mile woo! When running over the small lake that is in the towns Alex grew up in, I had to stop and take a quick picture. Look at the sunrise and the lake was completely still, not even a ripple in the water. Beautiful!

After my run it was time to do a little cleaning. And by cleaning I mean vacuuming dog hair. Once that was all done it was time for another walk with the dogs. I think they’re going to be a little sad when Alex’s parents gets home and we don’t take them on walks. When we got home I was in desperate need of a shower so I hopped in and got ready before heading to the grocery store.

Alex stopped to grab something from a convenience store and there were two Boy Scouts selling popcorn. Since Alex and I don’t have a microwave in our apartment, he said he couldn’t buy any. Apparently Boy Scouts sells bags of prepopped popcorn now. Who knew! Although for $10 that seems super overpriced. Yes we know that the money goes to the troop and it’s teaching the boys valuable lessons but how about it costs $5 instead Boy Scouts?

Then it was time for lunch! I made another sandwich and used some cheese, turkey, ham lettuce and mayo. I really do miss turkey sandwiches so I’ve been eating all of the turkey that is in the fridge. On the side, I added a few handfuls of the popcorn we bought. When I finished eating, I prepped some chicken and put it in a bowl to marinade for dinner Monday night. Seems super early but the longer the meat marinades for the recipe, the better it tastes.

After that I just kind of hung out and read for a bit. I also played with the dogs outside. It was really hot but I wanted fresh air so I braced it to get outside. Then I sat on the couch and read for a while.

We were supposed to drive up to north Jersey to meet some of Alex’s friends from college. The plans ended up falling through so we quickly found something to make for dinner. There was a package of brown sugar bourbon marinaded chicken breasts in the freezer that we took out to defrost. I threw some potatoes in the oven to roast while Alex put the chicken on the grill. After adding some salad to our plates dinner was served! The chicken was pretty good although we did think the barbecue flavor would’ve been stronger. I’m now inspired to buy some chicken and place in bags with a marinade for easy dinners.

After dinner we got comfy on the couch to startΒ “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”. If you don’t know, it’s a prequel of sorts to Harry Potter but not really. Since we love Harry Potter I think we had high expectations for this movie. It’s not that it was bad but it’s not Harry Potter good if that makes sense. I did fall asleep during it but that’s because it was pitch black and apparently I can’t watch movies in the pitch black on the couch.

Question of the day: What’s been the high from your weekend thus far?

    1. We haven’t finished it yet but we do like it! I think you just have to go in with the expectation that it won’t be as good as HP. I don’t think any movie or book about wizards will ever be as good as it, just my opinion though πŸ™‚

Thank you! It was too beautiful to not take a quick break. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday Allie!

  1. Hey girl! That run sounded gorgeous !!!! What type of peanut butter do you use?! That marble rye loooks soooo good too. I am currently reading through HP so I don’t want to watch that movie until I’m done but I’ve also heard mixed reviews about it! Hmmm highlight of my weekend- well I’ve worked literally all weekend, 12 hours shifts, but probably the fact that my patient load hasn’t been as crazy as usual is a huge highlight! Have a great week, dear! XO

    1. I currently just use the store brand creamy pb! Or the name brand if it’s on sale and cheaper lol, I’m all about saving money on food if possible πŸ™‚ Let me know what you think when you finish the books girl! I loved them and need to buy all of them for myself. 12 hour shifts is tough so I seriously applaud you in your career choice! It’s great your patient load isn’t as crazy, hopefully it stays that way for a bit love! Thank you! Have a great week yourself πŸ™‚

  3. Yes, I definitely have trouble waking up to run, I think I’m more of a night runner haha. Sounds like a great Sunday, though! We love marinating chicken breasts in bags for quick grab and go weeknight dinners.

    1. I give you major props for being a night runner! I don’t think I could do it. It was a pretty good Saturday. Marinating meat makes it extra tender in my opinion so I really need to do it more since it is so easy.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday night πŸ™‚
