Woohoo it’s Friday! Are you guys excited for the weekend? I know I am very excited for some rest and relaxation. Have a great day 🙂
I woke up extra early yesterday morning because I thought I had to stop at the apartment before work. And by woke up, I mean an alarm went off at 5:15 am and then I cuddled up next to Alex until it was 5:40. It’s the thought that counts right? I got ready then headed downstairs for breakfast. Cooking breakfast sounded like a lot of work so I poured a bowl of Special K with strawberries to enjoy instead.
Want to hear a funny story? I’m so glad you do 😉 Since we went to our apartment Wednesday night to get our new washer and dryer installed, Alex and I thought it would be smart to pack up the stuff we wouldn’t need and bring it home so we didn’t have to scramble in the morning. I went through the clothes, dirty and clean laundry and toiletries to see what could be brought back and what had to stay. I was so glad when we brought majority of our belongings home. When I got dressed for bed on Wednesday night I realized I didn’t leave a shirt for work on Thursday. Don’t worry though, I made sure Alex had everything for work and that I had clean underwear but apparently I didn’t need a shirt. Luckily I had a blue workout shirt that could pass as a tshirt in my drawer so I went to work with an Under Armour shirt to work. Thankfully I work in a casual environment and had a cardigan I could wear over it when I left my office. If you want a good athleisure shirt that is great for workouts or lounging or work I recommend this one. I see them on sale a lot if you’re interested and own multiple.
During my lunch break I saw an article from a website I get daily emails from called Greatist. It brought up face yoga, have you ever heard of that? I was so curious and the article makes it seem like a way to decrease wrinkles and basically tone your face muscles. Am I the only person who didn’t know this was a thing or is this a new fitness trend that is coming up.
After work, I headed back to the apartment which oddly felt strange. I wasn’t going to complain about having a shorter commute even though not having some dogs to greet me was a little sad. I changed and headed out for my run. I know it’s still technically summer but I’m over 85 plus degrees in the afternoon on my runs. Where is the cooler September temperatures New Jersey has been having the last week or so. 5.5 miles with 4 of them being tempo runs. My legs were so dead that the half a mile jog back to the apartment took me almost 7 minutes thus why my average pace is over 10 minutes. I loved the feeling though *insert muscle emoji here* WordPress if you could add emojis in that would be fantastic.
When I got home, Alex mentioned that his parents invited us over for pizza as a thank you for watching the dogs so back to their house we went. Annie, my new bff, was a little confused about seeing us even though mom and dad were back. Take that cute picture of Annie in place of the two pieces of pizza and salad that I had for dinner. In hindsight, I probably didn’t need that second piece but in the moment I was pretty hungry and it felt like the right decision.
We ate and left his parents house quickly since they were pretty jet lagged. When we got home, Alex did a little work and I typed this post up. I started “Secrets of a Charmed Life” by Susan Meissner. It’s a World War II historical fiction that follows two sisters in the 1940s who were sent away from London to the British countryside to avoid German bombings. In present day Britain, an American exchange student studying at Oxford is interviewing an elderly woman that brings up secrets from the war. I’m a quarter of the way through and enjoying it so far. I was pretty tired and ready to chill on the couch and do a whole lot of nothing so that’s what we did. Originally I was going to suggest watching “Burn Notice” but that seemed like it would involve to much attention and focus so we watched an episode of “Arrested Development” before going to bed.
Question of the day: Have you heard of face yoga before? Would you try it?
