Run The Vineyards 8k

Hello and happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend. Enjoy your day πŸ™‚

Alex took this as I was going in towards the finish line.

Sunday is typically my rest day during the weekend but yesterday involved a fun race. A few months ago, I saw a run through at a winery about 40 minutes away. I texted some friends to see if they wanted to do it and we all signed up! We were in for an interesting surprise when we got there and found out the course was through woods, fields and very hilly. That was not how it was advertised at all! It was so hilly that it was the equivalent of 70 flights of stairs. My legs were tired from my 7 miles on Saturday morning but I didn’t walk so that was a win in my book. All runners got a free glass of wine after so I tried their chardonnay and enjoyed it.

When we got home I was pretty hungry so while I showered and got dressed, Alex made me a grilled cheese. I had recently seen a Buzzfeed article that said if you lightly coat the outside of bread with mayo instead of butter for a grilled cheese then the bread gets crispier and more delicious. We didn’t find that to be true but it was still good. I also had a glass of cider, a cider donut and a carrot with hummus.

I hung out on the couch and read for a bit then napped while Alex did school work. I was in the mood for a low key afternoon after having two pretty busy days and getting less sleep than normal. One of Alex’s friends who was in town from New York City came by for a bit.

Last week,Β EmilyΒ posted about a buffalo chicken recipe she made for her family. Since I’m the world’s pickiest eater and her exact recipe called for sweet potatoes, I looked for something with normal potatoes to enjoy. Oh my gosh you guys, go and make this loaded potato and buffalo chicken casserole fromΒ Genius Kitchen. It was SO good!! Alex and I both loved it and it’s definitely going to be a staple dinner for us I think.

After dinner, we watched an episode of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and hung out. A friend of Alex’s was visiting from Texas so he came over for a beer. We all chatted for a bit before his friend had to leave. It was nice to see him but I would be lying if I said, I didn’t go right to bed after.

I want to acknowledge the events that occurred at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the victims and their families. I was in awe and shock when I woke up to the news this morning.Β

Question of the day: What’s the most recent fun run that you’ve done?Β

    1. It is absolutely heart breaking. I can’t imagine what everyone who was in attendance must be feeling. Thank you for sharing that recipe to inspire me! Try out the one from Genius Kitchen, it’s delicious.

      Have a great day πŸ™‚

    1. It’s terrible, I couldn’t believe it when I saw the videos and watched the news 😦
I’ll do a short recap tomorrow. It went well though! It was more of a fun race and not a race I was trying to PR at.

Have a great day, Erinn πŸ™‚

  1. I’m watching the news about last night right now. It’s so incredibly sad, I just don’t know what to say….. I’ve heard that about grilled cheese, but I’ve always been suspicious because Riley makes the greatest grilled cheese ever and he uses butter.

  2. I saw the news this morning when I was on the treadmill. It is so sad and my heart goes out to everyone there. 😦 your race looks like a ton of fun and Alex is super sweet to make you a sandwich for your post-race fuel! πŸ™‚

  3. Running at a winery must be THE BEST. I have to say that my runs haven’t been quite the best lately. Because I’m running less, then I feel more fatigued and don’t really enjoy it. I know I’ll get back to my normal self soon :).

Hope you enjoy the start of your week, Maureen!

    1. It was so fun! I’m glad we signed up for it. Isn’t it weird how a change in our routine throws off how we feel? I hope you get back to yourself soon!

Thank you, Nathaly! Enjoy your Monday πŸ™‚

  4. Runs like that seem like such a fun idea, I’ve done a Bridge to Brews 10k here in Portland but sadly didn’t really get to partake of the brews part afterward since I had to rush off to my lab for work.

Definitely still struggling to process the enormity of the mass shooting in Las Vegas, it’s difficult to wrap my head around that extreme an atrocity and what those people are going through.
