Hello! “It’s Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday”. Please tell me I’m not the only person that remember’s that awful Rebecca Black song from 6 years ago? Anyways, I hope you all have a fantastic day 🙂
As the week as progressed and more news of Las Vegas has come out, I feel like we could all use a feel good story. I saw this a few days ago on Facebook and it made my heart so happy! We need to hear more reports about the good in the world.
I’m not crying at all after that… Now, back to our regularly schedule content:
When the alarm went off in the morning I was nice and let Alex shower first, kidding I just wanted to lay in bed a little longer. But karma got me and I nailed my shin on the side of the bathtub when I went to get in. Since I washed my hair yesterday, I prepped overnight oats the night before to speed up the breakfast process. Paired with apple cider and half of an apple Alex didn’t finish, I was ready to head out for the day.
I’m so close to finishing “Beartown” that I couldn’t wait for lunch at work. It’s a great book that to me, shows how choices affect not only you but others and can even affect a whole town. Granted this is a fictional novel and a small town but the message is relevant to everyone at any stage in life. I ended up finishing it and give it 5 stars.
For whatever reason, it’s above 80 degrees here in New Jersey. Where did the perfect fall weather go?! It made me a little less excited for my run today. Sometimes that happens though! 4 nice and slow miles with some Thomas Rhett playing was very nice. While running, I could tell the sun was lower than normal. It honestly feels like the sun randomly starting rising later and setting earlier out of no where, so weird.
With Alex’s new job, we’re still working on dinner timing. Luckily last night’s meal was pretty simple and involved minimal clean up. I made foil pack salsa chicken. Just some minute rice, a few spices mixed together on the chicken, some cream cheese, salsa, blackbeans and corn. I placed it in the foil and threw it in the oven to cook for around 30 minutes. Once it was done, we added cheese on the top and let it cool off. Last time I made it, we were so excited to eat it that we burned our mouths but we learned from out mistake this time.
Fun fact about me is that I love hockey. And not just hockey in general, but the Chicago Blackhawks. Get me tickets o a hockey game and I will love you forever. Don’t believe me just ask Alex if that’s true 😉 He surprised me with tickets last year and I was thrilled! Plus we’re still together so it works.
Last night was the season and home opener for the Hawks. I am really happy living in New Jersey except for when a hockey game is on. Since the Blackhawks are not even close to local for me, games are rarely on tv. I logged into my Dad’s cable account but the game wasn’t available to watch online. *cries*. The NHL shows a play by play of the game online so I “watched” it that way. And in case you were wondering, I did wear my jersey while sitting on the couch. During the intermissions, I started my next book: “The Reason You’re Alive”. I went to bed after the second period because it was pretty late but the Hawks ended up winning 10-1 against the Pittsburgh Penguins, yay!
Question of the day: What’s your favorite sport to watch?
