True Life: I Love Carbs

It’s hump day! Half way through the week, woohoo! Have a great day friends πŸ™‚

Tuesday started off like most and I got ready for work. I heated up another piece of my baked oatmeal. Pairing it with a glass of milk is the perfect breakfast for me. So good and filling!

During lunch, I finishedΒ “Sanctum”. I can’t wait to see if my library has the third on in the series! It’s the perfectly slightly creepy book for this time of year. Also, did you know that if you fold the closure part of a plastic bag over then it stands up and stays open?! I forget where I saw this but I’ve been doing it ever since and it’s such a simple hack and I love it. Since I’m not sure if I’m late to the game on this or if no one else knows about it and wanted to share πŸ™‚

After work, I went for a 3 mile run. The felt like temperature was 81 degrees when I finished around 5:15. How?! It’s October and supposed to be in the mid-60s. What is going on with the weather right now. Luckily the humidity wasn’t too high but it made this easy one feel hard.

I showered once I got home and foam rolled then grabbed a post run snack. I sliced a small piece of bread and put some olive oil, parmesan cheese, and pepper into a dish. It was the perfect meal with some carbs and healthy fats to hold me over until dinner when Alex got home.

Alex texted me that his train was about to get in and I started cooking the tacos for dinner. I cooked ground beef, heated up rice, black beans and corn, cut up some lettuce and pulled out all of our toppings. I had two tacos with some rice and they filled me up.

We cleaned up from dinner and cuddled on the couch to hang out for a bit. I lit this apple strudel candle fromΒ Milkbottle Candle Co. to try and pretend that it’s fall. The scent is amazing! I will say it’s now extremely hard to light due to the shape of the bottle. I absolutely love it though and will spend the extra time lighting it. The candle has lasted forever too! I bought this last year and used it a ton and still have so a lot left.

While we were hanging out, I cut a piece of pumpkin bread and ate half of it. Apparently I was all about the carbs yesterday and hopefully won’t eat as many today! But carbs and bread is just so good!! I blame it on the fact that there’s homemade bread and pumpkin bread on the counter so I see it a lot.

Question of the day: What was a high from your Tuesday?

    1. Sugar is a weakness of mine too. Can’t stop won’t stop with the carbs though :/
Ah 3 mile run for the win! Getting your haircut is the best, especially when they wash your hair and really scrub your scalp. You totally reminded me to schedule a haircut lol.

Have a great day, Erinn πŸ™‚

    1. Oh no! I hope you aren’t getting sick Dawn 😦 Drink extra water to try and flush your system. Bread with olive oil and parm is my favorite starter at Italian restaurants so I figured why not recreate it at home πŸ™‚

      Feel better!!

I ran yesterday and got a last start at 10:30 AM and it was 80 with nearly 100% humidity! And my park was nearly flooded…. crazy weather!

    1. Carbs are so addicting!! I love when a restaurant has olive oil and bread on the table so I figured why not recreate it at home.
Your book club seems so fun!

Okay so I’m having problems commenting on your blog 😦 but I want to say that who care if you don’t do any road races anymore! If it’s more unhealthy for you to do it then don’t. You gotta do what’s best for you πŸ™‚

      Have a great day!

  2. I adore carbs as well…give me all the breads, cakes, pastries, lol. I don’t have any shame in it though because I just make sure I workout enough to make up for it, haha! Also, that is probably the CUTEST candle I have ever seen! I wonder if that’s across the states because I would love to find one. So adorable.

    1. Seriously though, carbs are the best food group lol. I have some heavy carb days and others where I don’t have any. It’s all about balance right?! Isn’t the candle so cute?? I bought it at the cutest store in Princeton last year and I love it. I think they are nation wide. If not, you could definitely order online. I linked the company πŸ™‚ The apple strudel scent is AMAZING!

      1. It definitely is all about balance! I often find that if I restrict myself too much, I go insane and then totally get off-track. I tend to feel better if I just allow myself to be balanced with healthy and non-healthy as long as I’m working out consistently. Ooh I will have to check out that link because it’s just adorable! Perfect for fall.

      2. Yes exactly!! Like some days my body is telling me to eat all the lettuce and drink all the water but other times it’s begging for pizza. I try not to beat myself to up about it all because that’s no fun. I hope you find some candles that you love! I have it lit right now and it’s giving me awesome fall vibes.

  3. I’ve been told that bread makes happy hormones. πŸ™‚ I once told my fiance that I love the smell of a fresh baguette more than roses. I sure miss breads/cakes/carb love since going gluten free, but I do feel a lot less bloated and “heavy.” After all that running, your body needs that energy and I’m glad you respect it by listening to it!

    1. It would not surprise me at all if bread made happy hormones. I’m sure you can find some good gluten free bread that is close to traditional bread! I have heard eaten less gluten helps with bloating. I definitely listen to it! But then I also do use running as an excuse to eat extra sometimes. Oh well!
