My Brain Is Fried

Happy hump day friends! I hope you are all having a good week thus far. Have a great day 🙂

I’ve been really enjoying waking up early and it rushing in the morning so I decided to wake up at my normal time instead of sleeping in. Don’t worry though, I laid in the comfy hotel bed instead of jumping right up 🙂 I got ready then headed to the hotel restaurant for breakfast. How cute is the tea setting?? I love the rock candy instead of normal sugar. I got what they called the country breakfast which was two scrambled eggs, potatoes, chicken sausage and toast. So much food and I couldn’t even eat half.

Work was a lot to say the least. Starting a new job is basically information overload so I knew this would be the case. I’m not even going to pretend that I regained all of it. I don’t think anyone could. My boss, the other packaging specialist and I stopped midday for a lunch break. I had a Monterey Jack chicken salad. It was delicious! There was romaine lettuce, grilled chicken, a little bacon, cucumbers and Monterey Jack cheese. I used a little salsa as the dressing which gave it a good spice to it.

After work I needed a break so I went back to the hotel for a bit. I had a call with my coach about the 10 mile race I have this weekend. We planned a race strategy and I’m so excited. I waked to a restaurant that was a few blocks away from my hotel to get a little exercise. The downtown area has scarecrows set up along the street that have been decorated by local businesses and groups. The cow one is my favorite!

The restaurant, Penny Black Grill and Tap, had a fire pit outside that I sat at. It was so nice! The pit was pretty relaxing and set a great mood while I read and waited for my food. I gotten a barbecue chicken flatbread with Brussels sprouts on the side. So tasty!

I walked back to the hotel and decided to read a few chapters in the hotel’s library. I feel like the hotel used to be an old prep school or something like that. How pretty is this room?

Traveling always makes my skin freak out and since I’m dealing with acne right now (just keeping it real) I wanted to try and combat the effect of travel. Sheet mask for the win! While it sat on my face, I watched “Shark Tank” and “Chopped Junior”.

Question of the day: Tell me anything! My brain is so fried and I’d love a break from work talk 🙂

  1. Orientations for work are always crazy!! My face does the same thing when I travel. I think it’s the combo of different foods+different water! I hope you are loving your new job though! 🙂 Good luck at your race!!

    1. I’m beginning to think mental overload is an understatement. It was such a great dinner spot! Honestly I was a little eh about it when the hostess sat me but was so happy and relax after. I want to try and recreate the pizza/flatbread at home!

      I hope you’re having a good Wednesday 🙂

  2. You’re doing great! Sorry your brain is fried :/ (Maybe it’s a good thing and you won’t even think about your race this weekend – no nerves!) I’m so excited to read about your race!

    1. It’s all good! I’m happy with the position and so I’ll take a fried brain over my old job. I’m more nervous about coming down with a cold right now than the race so no nerves is right! Hopefully I can do a recap the next day or on the Tuesday after once pictures come in.

I hope your Wednesday was a good one!

  3. Congrats again on the new job! Don’t worry, I’m sure you’re not expected to remember everything the first time around. How exciting about your upcoming 10 mile race – have you done a 10 miler before? I really enjoy that distance.

    1. Thank you so much! My boss and the other packaging engineer have been helpful so I think I’ll pick up on it quickly. I’m a little nervous because I’m coming down with a cold but otherwise I feel prepared! I’ve never done a 10 miler so this is exciting.

I hope your day is going well 🙂

  4. glad your job is off to a good start – i feel like information overload is always the case when starting something new, but you’re on the right track. i hope the aloe mask was good! 🙂

    1. I feel like you get presented with a ton of info and you think you understand until you actually do the work. But it’s a learning curve so just need to roll with it! I loved the mask but I’m running low on sheet masks and need to stock back up.

I hope you’re having an awesome day thus far 🙂

  5. I love restaurants with fire pits!! Makes the experience so much fun. And don’t worry about not retaining everything you’re learning right away – that’s normal! And that mask looks like the perfect end to your day 🙂

    1. It was the best! The hostess just sat me there because I think she thought I would enjoy it and I loved it. You’re right, it is normal. I’m just weird and hate feeling like I don’t know anything even though how would I know everything about my new company. Traveling with a sheet mask is my new favorite thing.

I hope your Wednesday has been a good one, Marina 🙂
