Happy Friday everyone! I don’t know about all of you, but I am ready for the weekend. Have a great day 🙂
I woke up yesterday morning ready to take on the day. On mornings when getting up is easy, I just feel so much more refreshed. Once I was ready for work, I sat down to eat a scrambled egg for breakfast before heading off to work.
When I got to work, I looked at my to do list to cross some more items off. Around 10 my stomach started to grumble which meant it was snack time. I’m trying to figure out what the best breakfast is to keep me full until lunch. Send any breakfast favorites my way! I munched on an apple and strawberry just fruit bar from Trader Joe’s.
As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, my company was having a potluck lunch. There was so much good food. My plate looks filled (it was) but I wanted to try a little of everything! It was all delicious and I tasted some of everything on the plate. The empanada was so good and so was the shredded chicken that’s on the tortilla chips. My cookies were a hit too 🙂
During the afternoon, Alex asked me what I was doing last night. I responded with “running then sitting at home” to which he responded that I wasn’t doing that. He asked if I wanted to come up to the city to meet him for drinks and appetizers. Since it was his birthday, I assumed it meant I couldn’t say no. I finished work then headed home to quickly make our munches before calling an Uber. My driver was awesome! He knew I had to make a train and got me there on time. He earned his 5 star rating you guys.
Alex had an event so I walked from Penn station to a bar and restaurant close to his event. Their appetizer menu was really small and didn’t have anything that sounded to good to us. We decided to head to somewhere else. We walked to his office building so I could see it’s location and everything. It was such a nice night to be in the city! Alex works a few block away from Times Square so there were a ton of places around his building. We found and Irish rooftop bar and restaurant called The Perfect Pint. Since the weather was so nice, we opted to sit on the roof. I got a Hoegaarden to sip on while we browsed the menu. For our meal, Alex opted for the mini crab cakes and I had to southwestern spring rolls. The food was delicious!
We looked at the train schedule when we finished and saw we had some time to walk around the city before heading home. Once our check was paid we were on our way. Times Square luckily wasn’t too crowded so we enjoyed walking through on our way back to Penn station.
Once we were on the train I started to get tired. It didn’t leave NYC until 9:35 so I was ready for bed at that point. I’m so glad Alex thought to ask me to come up. It was such a fun, spontaneous night and a great way to spend his birthday!
Question of the day: Do you like celebrating birthdays on the actual day or a weekend?
