I’m not sure why getting out of bed was so hard yesterday morning but it was. It could be because I stayed up a little too late watching “Stranger Things” or if it’s from the time change. Either way, it was rough. I got up and showered then started to make some oatmeal for Alex and I. Making it on the stove top take so much longer than a microwave but we don’t have one so the stove top is the only way we can do it. We both had to eat super quickly in order to get to work on time. Next time we have oatmeal we’ll have to start making it earlier I guess. Oh well, we learned our lesson right? I topped my bowl with lots of cinnamon and a small scoop of peanut butter.
Work went well for a Monday. It’s my first full week at my office which is a little crazy. I can’t believe this is the 4th week at my new job. I am loving it and learning a lot! At lunch, I pulled out a new book to read. Unfortunately, my Nook seems to be out of commission unless I can find a new charger for it online. Instead of reading on that, I took out a book I got as a birthday present back in July. I’m not sure why it’s taken me so long to start “Into the Water” by Paula Hawkins but I’m already hooked.
After work, I tried to make it home and change quickly so I could go out on my run. The workout was 400 repeats. I felt strong which was good since my body felt weird on the last two runs I had. My splits were 2:02, 2:01, 2:04, 2:01, 2:00, 2:05, 2:03 and 1:58. And yes I did wear shorts and a t-shirt on my run. It’s November! I shouldn’t be able to wear that comfortably, let alone feel a little hot during my workout!
It was dark when I got home so I decided to stretch inside so that I wasn’t sitting out in the dark. After stretching, I foam rolled before hopping in the shower. I love seeing our pumpkins from our date this weekend while I rolled. Once I was out of the shower, I made our lunches and got Alex’s coffee ready for the morning.
I feel like I took an unintentional hiatus from my crockpot for some reason. I got back into it and made shredded buffalo chicken for dinner last night. We typically have burger buns in the freezer but of course last night we didn’t. Instead of having sandwiches and roasted veggies, I made brown rice and we made rice bowls instead. For a little extra flavor I added a sprinkle of cheddar cheese to them as well. According to Alex they were spicy but I thought they tasted fantastic and weren’t spicy at all.
The rest of the night was spent relaxing on the couch. I typed up this post and enjoyed a cookie with it. We finished the last 20 minutes of an episode of Stranger Things before heading to bed. For anyone curious if the show is scary it’s not! It’s more suspenseful if anything. I hate scary movies so much but don’t find this to be scary at all.
Question of the day: Are you still able to workout outside in shorts right now? It can’t just be me who has warmer than normal temperatures right now.
