We Had Leftovers

Happy Fri-yay! What are you plans for the day and weekend? I plan on having a low key Friday night. Party animal I know πŸ˜‰ Have a wonderful day!

Happy Veteran’s Day! Thank you to any service members and their families for their sacrifice.

When I woke up on Thursday, I was just ready to go. I definitely woke up on the right side of the bed which was okay with me. I showered and got ready for the day. For breakfast, I had two scrambled eggs, a glass of milk and tea to go. As a graduation gift, all of the seniors in my engineering program got these travel mugs which I thought was nice. Since it’s metal, my tea stay hots for so long! It’s perfect for when I have to be away from my desk in the morning since I still have a warm drink.

Work was going along well until I started to get a little hungry. Luckily, I thought ahead before I left my apartment this morning and threw an apple into my bag. It was hit the spot and held me over until lunch. During lunch I read more ofΒ “Into the Water”Β and was so close to finishing but my lunch was over so I couldn’t. Am I the only one who gets annoyed when you can’t finish a book during a certain time? Just me? Okay then…moving on πŸ™‚

After work, I changed and headed out the door for my run. I had 6 x 2 minutes at an 8:05-8:15 pace. Overall, my run doesn’t look very fast due to a mile warm up, recovery jogs and mile cool down but my legs were burning by the last repeat. I felt really strong though and am happy with it. It’s crazy for me to think that a few months ago, I would’ve been scared by this workout and while it seemed intimidating at first when I saw the schedule, I knew I could crush it. Yes, I wore shorts yesterday but I wore a long sleeve shirt so I’m slowly getting ready for cold weather running πŸ™‚

I got home, stretched and foam rolled before showering. Once I was clean and smelling good, I threw pjs on and cuddled up on the couch to finish the book. I’ll be honest, I was a little disappointed in the ending. I really enjoyed Paula Hawkins first novel,Β “The Girl on the Train”Β and maybe I set my hopes to high for her newest novel. I’m not sure but I didn’t think the ending was amazing. I loved it until the last 20 or so pages but I would still recommend it.

Alex texted me to tell me what time his train was getting into the station so I could plan dinner. We were finally going to have the rest of the leftovers from Sunday night but I knew we wouldn’t have enough to satisfy both of us. For whatever reason, I was really hungry yesterday so I threw a potato in the oven to roast. A few minutes before he got home, I put the pasta on the stove to heat up. Alex filled up his bowl first and I took the rest of the pasta plus potato. Again, I could eat just a roasted potato at night for dinner and be satisfied so having a bit of pasta was a bonus.

After dinner was cleaned up, Alex poured us glasses of wine while I lit a candle. I saw the Bath and Body Works candles are currently on sale so I may need to go pick some up. Do you have any winter favorites?! Please let me know if you do πŸ™‚ I looked through the few books I own and settled on my next read. Even though I had every intention of starting it, I didn’t. I opted to chat with Alex instead. Sometimes a random chat is just what you need and good for the soul. Eventually we got up and headed to bed.

Question of the day: What type of blog posts do you want to see more of? Recipes, workouts, random stories tell me because I want to know!Β

  1. Yes I do dislike it when I end up not having enough time to finish a book!!!
What training program are you following?
I’ve been really enjoying the posts you’ve been doing:)

    1. It’s the worst right?! You know you’re so close to be done but just need a little longer.
So Im not following a specific program. I got a running coach because I wanted to have someone else to hold me accountable. I know that I should run or workout but I need a little extra motivation and she helps me so much. Like I’ve been saying for months now that on days I don’t run I need to do bodyweight workouts and I’ve done that maybe twice…I’d be more than happy to talk more about it if you’d like or have questions.
Thank you so much for saying that AJ!! I’m so happy you’ve been enjoying them πŸ™‚

      1. Oh a running coach is a great idea!!! Good for you for taking that step!
I’m only good about working out because I meet up with a friend!!

      2. Exactly! Lyndsay makes up two other workouts for me and since she made them especially for me, I feel i have to do them so that yes my other two workouts done for the week!
LOL I’m such a follower as I love someone coming up with the workout and just telling me what to do:)

  2. I read Girl on Train a few years ago but honestly can’t remember how it ends lol! It must not have made a very big impression on me! Its finally cooled down around here but I think mother nature got a little too excited about making things cold bc it was freezing today!

    1. Did you see the movie of it? I read the book and watched the movie and thought both were really good! Mother Nature totally over corrected! Last night was so cold for the northeast. The temperatures were January like not November like according to what I read!

  3. Low key nights are just the best sometimes! Also, so are random talks with your significant other! Your leftovers look delish, and I am with ya on being able to be happy with a good old roasted potato haha.

  4. I don’t know why, but I love seeing people’s workouts! I go from plan to plan and I’m trying to do my own thing right now and it’s almost like I don’t even know how to structure a schedule! haha.

    1. That’s really good to know. I’m honestly so bad at working out aside from my running. Maybe as it gets colder I’ll be more motivated but we’ll see. If I make anything good I’ll be sure to post it for you.
