Happy Saturday! I hope you are all staying warm if the temperatures dramatically dropped near you. Last night was in the low 20s, that’s January weather not November! Have a great day 🙂
My Friday started out on a good note. When I was getting ready for work, Alex started breakfast for us so we had bacon and eggs. I really need to get a new week day breakfast idea for us. Maybe I’ll try baked oatmeal again…
Work was crazy busy! I was on the floor in the warehouse for 2.5 hours straight working on a pilot program for a package. I only left to go to two meetings. One of them overlapped with lunch so I brought a few snacks to eat and tide me over. I was surprised when only the apple filled me up enough for lunch so I’ll put the fruit bar in my desk drawer for emergencies.
I was so happy when the last meeting ended. My team is mostly in Detroit except there are a few of us that work remotely in other warehouses/offices. Our team leader said that any remote people could expense a lunch. Free lunch on a Friday? Heck yes! I headed to a local deli and grabbed a chicken caesar wrap, jalepeno chips (they just sounded so good) and a diet raspberry Snapple. It was much needed to fuel me for a busy afternoon. Side note, did you know Snapple switched from glass to plastic bottles?! Don’t worry, the caps still have the facts on them 😉
After work, I headed to the grocery store to pick up the items we need for the week. While there, I grabbed fire wood as well since temperatures were going to drop dramatically. Alex was unloading the package I bought and found this perfectly round piece of wood. It honestly looked fake it was so perfect and round.
I finally had a chance to start my next book, “Leaving Time” by Jodi Picoult. Jodi Picoult is one of the authors I know I will always enjoy if I’m in a book slump. Luckily I’m not in a slump, but this was sitting in our coffee table and I hadn’t read it yet. I will let you know my thoughts when I finish it!
Alex wanted steak for dinner so I roasted some broccoli to enjoy on the side and made mashed potatoes as well. We’re still working on a way to season steak on the rare occasions we cook it. Last night we used, salt pepper, garlic powder and onion powder which was pretty good! Although I need to be careful with the garlic and onion, I may have been a little heavy handed in certain areas.
Once dinner was cleaned up, we curled up on the couch to enjoy the fire. Photo credit to Alex, he saw the fire and claimed it was picture worthy. I think he just wanted to show off the fire he made 😉 (Love you babe). We watched “Bridget Jones’s Diary”. Neither of us had ever seen it before. It was cute! A little predictable but what rom-com isn’t right?
Question of the day: What did you have for dinner last night?
