I Am Not A Treadmill Person

Happy Friday! Plus it’s the Friday before Christmas which makes it that much more exciting, am I right?! Alex and I safely got to Chicago (late) on Wednesday night so we’ve been soaking up time with my family before it gets really crazy. Have a great day πŸ™‚

I woke up on Thursday and changed to run. Normally, I would run after work but work is done until January, woo! I had a lactate threshold workout and since I didn’t want to pack warm running clothes, I figured I would run it on my parents treadmill. What a mistake. You guys, I hate the treadmill. It’s awful in my personal opinion. After a few stops, I called it quits after 3 total miles. No idea if the workout got me, the fact that I was on a treadmill or a combo of both. Regardless, I figured hating the run wasn’t worth it and I decided to stop.

After a shower and saying good morning to Alex it was time for breakfast. I kept it simple and just made some scrambled eggs. Delicious and so easy to make while starving haha.

As we were sitting in the terminal on Wednesday night waiting to board, Alex got sick. I felt so bad because I’m pretty sure he caught the cold from me. We decided to lay low yesterday and just hung out at my parents house. The only reason we left was to head to Target for more cold medicine and mascara. Yes somehow I forgot mascara. By the time we got home, it was time for lunch. Grilled cheese and a little soup hit the spot.

The benefit of online shopping was not having to travel with a ton of gifts. The downsize was coming home to a giant pile of boxes in my room. Luckily, my mom had Santa’s workshop set up in my older brother’s room so it was super easy to wrap. Although I’m not sure he’ll appreciate wrapping supplies when he gets home Saturday πŸ˜‰ Alex helped me wrap and we finished it all in no time.

Once wrapping was complete, I headed out to pick my Dad up from the airport. Does anyone else’s family just take turns picking up and dropping people off at the airport? I kind of feel like my family is the only one! When I got home, we hung out and chatted for a bit. Alex and I then relaxed and watched some “Stranger Things 2”.

My mom got home from work and since she wasn’t sure of anyone’s plans we decided to order takeout for dinner. We got Thai food from a local place. That was the first time I had ever had Thai food and I liked what I got! For dinner, I went with pad si-ew noodle chicken which had rice noodles, chicken, broccoli, gai lan (Chinese broccoli) and egg in a homemade soy sauce. There was so much food it was crazy and I’ll have at least one more meal out of it.

Friends of mine from grade school and high school were out so Alex and I went to see them. There’s a semi new bar and restaurant in my hometown that we met at which was really cool. They had over 450 bottled beer…450! How crazy is that?! It ended up being about 10 of us and it was the perfect way to catch up with a bunch of people quickly. When we got home, we headed to bed and I prayed that Alex would kick his cold. Fingers crossed!

Question of the day: Are you a treadmill runner?

  1. I’ve spent quite a few hours on the treadmill! It’s hard to beat boredom…my tricks are changing up the speed/incline, reading a book, or watching Netflix.
Sorry Alex is sick, hope he gets better ASAP!
    Have a Merry Christmas Maureen!

    1. My younger brother has an Xbox in the basement and I tried so hard to get it on the tv. Turned out that I was turning on the old system and not his new one. Otherwise I would’ve been set lol. I felt SO dumb Erinn! Thank you, I’ll pass along your message to Alex.

Have a wonderful and very merry Christmas!

  2. That’s awesome you have so much time off work and that you are with your family. Enjoy!

I too am not a fan of the treadmill. If the weather is REALLY bad, I will lift instead of run. But there has been times where I haven’t been able to run outside for several days in a row and it was worth it to go to the gym and do a treadmill run just because I really felt like I needed the burn!

    1. Thanks Megan! It’s nice to have a week off without taking vacation lol.

I get that! I’m sure if a big snow storm comes and I’m stuck inside for a few days I’ll wish I had a treadmill. There’s just something about it that I can’t do. I’m in aw of people who consistency chose the treadmill!

    1. I tried turning Netflix on and managed to use the wrong Xbox my younger brother has lol. I tried though. Outside is my personal favorite. I’m in awe you managed to train for a marathon on one! That’s impressive!

  3. i actually don’t mind treadmill running! πŸ™‚ i go to my gym, it has awesome machines. Plus it’s nice having the convenience of the bathroom mere feet away, and water within arm’s reach without having to carry it. I sometimes also watch Netflix while on the treadmill, so there’s that. also if for some reason i want to cut the run short I can just hop off without having to figure out how to get back home haha! πŸ™‚ Oh and I’m glad you enjoyed your Thai dinner! It’s one of my favorite cuisines!!!

    1. So I’m an idiot and couldn’t figure out why my younger brother’s Xbox wasn’t showing up on the tv so I could watch Netflix. Then I realized it was because he got a newer one and I was using the old one. Had I been watching something I think I would’ve been able to do two more miles. That’s awesome you do it consistently! It’ll come in handy when it’s cold and snowy this winter. It was good! I started simple and maybe will get more adventurous with time πŸ™‚

  4. Not a big running treadmill fan, I think it’s because the feelings on my knees always feels more painful. But that Thai also looks amazing, I need to find a good place in NYC! Have only had Pad Thai once!
