Happy Wednesday! I’m so turned around on what the day is since I feel like yesterday should have been Monday but it was actually Tuesday. It’s a side effect of the holidays lol. Have a great day 🙂
Our alarm clock was a little different yesterday. Since Alex brought Grace, one of his parents’ dog, over she must have gotten anxiety or something. She was really whiney, pacing around and panting a lot. Alex took her out twice to see if that’s what she needed but it didn’t help. So at 6:15 am, we threw our robes on and headed to his parents to drop her off. When we got home, we headed back to bed. Then we proceeded to wake up after 10am… whoops! I would be lying if I said we got out of bed before 11:30. In our defense, we had spend the past 5 days traveling and being on the go so we needed it.
At that point, it wasn’t worth making breakfast plus we didn’t have very much food in the fridge at all. Once we showered, we headed to grab some pizza before going to the grocery store. I grabbed a slice of margherita and a slice of sausage. It was so tasty! Although it could have been I was so hungry at that point that it didn’t really matter.
Once the groceries were put away, I changed for my run. It was a speed ladder workout that was hard. It went like this: 2 x 400m, 2 x 800m, 1 x a mile, 1 x 800m and 2 x 400m. I don’t know if it was because I’m off from my typical routine or what. I went from trying to hit the pace to just going as fast as I could. The workout ended up being a little over 6.5 miles, 9:14 minute pace, which included warm up, recovery jogs and cool down. Even though I didn’t hit my paces, I ended up with the fastest 5k and fastest 10k on my watch so that was awesome!
After stretching, foam rolling and showering, I tried on a bunch of clothes that I was gifted on Christmas. I ended up being fairly lucky that a lot fit but there’s a few things that need to go back. Now to get to all the stores so the pile on our floor goes away lol. When everything was put away, I sat down to set up my run angel. Run angel is a personal saftey device that you wear like a watch. It has a loud alarm and you can set up to have 3 guardians who will receive a text and email if the alarm is every activated with the date, time and location. It’s something I never hope to have to use but will feel much better to have on me during all my runs.
For dinner, I had spicy southwest chicken cooking in the crock pot that I shredded. I cooked brown rice and black beans so we could have burrito bowls. In mine, I put rice, black beans, chicken, cheese, lettuce, salsa and a little sour cream. I make the easiest salsa from scratch and it’s SO good and spicy. There’s definitely days I plan dinner around what I can use that salsa with 😉 Would that be something that you guys would be interested in? It’s so easy I don’t even know if I could call it a recipe but will definitely share next time I make it if you would like.
After dinner, I folded laundry (so exciting I know ;). Then Alex had two of his childhood friends over. I decided to have some white wine while we all hung out and chatted. My legs were feeling it after a tough workout so I sat on the ground to stretch and roll while they were over. When they left, Alex and I stayed up a bit later before heading to bed.
Question of the day: Are your Christmas celebrations over or do you have more fun things coming up?
