Happy Friday! If you were hit with snow yesterday, I hope you stayed safe. If you didn’t get a ton of snow then I’m jealous. Have a great Friday 🙂
I was hoping that when I woke up yesterday, there was going to be enough snow on the ground for my office to close. That was wishful thinking because it looked like it hadn’t even snowed! Somewhat begrudgingly, I got up and ready for work. For breakfast, I made myself some oatmeal that I added cinnamon and peanut butter too and ate some fruit on the side.
Work was less than fun as everyone watched the snow just pile up as we were working. I went out during lunch just to clean up my car and the wind was whipping around so hard! They plowed the parking lot during lunch but by the time I left at 3, it looked like no plowing happened…
When I made it home, I was just glad to be there and not have to leave the house for the rest of the night! My less than 15 minute commute ended up being 30 minutes which includes my car getting stuck in the apartment’s parking lot and Alex coming out to help me. Alex and I estimate we got 8-12 inches of snow over the day. Obviously this meant I was not running outside.
One thing I do every day in my planner is write a to do list of 2-4 items. Not having to run meant I was able to cross off everything and read on the couch with a candle burning shortly after 5. The perfect way to spend the afternoon on such a snowy day in my opinion! For dinner, I had leftover chili that was in the freezer from a few weeks ago. It was just as tasty. I think of my goals for this year is to freeze leftovers after a day or two so that we can reduce food waste.
After dinner, I read more on the couch. I’m still on “Where’d You Go, Bernadette” by Maria Semple. It’s a great read so far and I love how Semple wrote the book through letters, emails, files, and very few “normal” paragraphs. We ended the night by hanging out in front of the fire. Outside the wind was whipping around so I was happy to be cuddled up under my science blanket. This was a Christmas gift from my cousin 4 years ago and it’s perfect. She found the chemistry beaker fleece at Jo-Ann Fabrics and it fits me so well.
Question of the day: How is the weather by you?
