Winter Olympics 2018

Hello and happy weekend! I’m not sure about you but it’s one of the best times that happens every two years. Yep the Olympics have started! I love the Olympics so much it’s not even funny. Did you watch the opening ceremonies? I’m curious to know your thoughts on it! Let’s back up though to Friday morning.

I was able to work from home yesterday so naturally it meant I was wide awake when my alarm went off. I managed to doze a bit and get a little extra sleep before waking up. Alex and I ran out of muffins so I just had a scrambled egg for breakfast. Later on in the morning I cut up and orange. If citrus season could not end that would be great!

Instead of eating during lunch, I changed into running clothes and got an easy four miles in. If I could do that every day I would be one happy girl. It was nice to get moving in the middle of the day and not have to worry about smelling at my desk for the afternoon. When I got home, I showered quick and then ate while working. Working from home was so nice since I didn’t have normal distractions when people walk by my desk. Although Alex worked from home too so I did have random distractions from him.

A trip to the grocery store was the official start to my weekend before sitting on the couch to read my latest book.Β Big MagicΒ by Elizabeth Gilbert (she also wrote Eat, Pray, Love) is a self help book about living a creative life without fear. It’s okay (I have less than 90 pages to go in it) but I’m not in love with it. I picked it up since I saw it hyped a bit online.

For dinner we tried something a little different! Alex and I are trying to make small changes to our otherwise mostly healthy diet. One of the things I suggested was adding ground turkey to some meals that typically use ground beef. The first one up was spaghetti. I just cooked the turkey with salt and pepper, put it on top of the spaghetti, added some sauce and a little cheese. It was delicious! I thought it was a good way to start adding another white meat to our diet.

After dinner it was go time! We turned on the Opening Ceremonies to see the Olympics. Some of the countries outfit choices were interesting though. Team USA is the biggest in any Winter Olympic ever at 242. USA!! I started to get tired so I turned off the show and got ready for bed.

Question of the day: What’s the event you are most excited to watch in the Olympics!

  1. Happy Weekend! I love working from home, too. Seems like you had a great start to your weekend. I haven’t watched the winter olympics but I do love ice skating. Are you on Good Reads? I would love to see a full list of all the books you’ve read! Jessica

      1. I am in awe of the people who can persevere so much to get to the Olympics. I really should watch something as my friend Lyndsay is a former Olympian. Maybe I’ll see some tomorrow when I’m at my friend’s place:)

      2. You know a former Olympian and have never watched any event?! First of all, knowing a former Olympian is SO cool!! Secondly you need to tune it. I think you would like it!

Also can I be a creep and ask what she competed in haha.

      3. Yes I know it blows me away all the time that I know a former Olympian. She is so low key about it too! She took silver in wrestling. I try not to get on her bad side as I think she could hurt me🀣🀣🀣

  2. my husband and I switched to using ground turkey or ground chicken when my boys were little. My husband was shocked to find he actually likes it more than ground beef on the recipes. So now we only buy ground beef when we are making burgers.
