Sunday In Pictures Vol. 18

Happy Monday! How was your weekend? It was a good one for me with a mix of active, relaxing and out spending time with people. In normal Monday fashion, I am sharing my Sunday in pictures today. Have a great day πŸ™‚

When you don’t own an apron but don’t want to get your clothes dirty, you put sweats on.

Yesterday was Alex’s dad’s birthday so for dinner, he chose steak (and lobster tail which I didn’t eat), mashed potatoes and asparagus.

For dessert, we all dug into my chocolate cake with chocolate whipped cream frosting.

Question of the day: What’s one highlight from your weekend?

  1. That chocolate whipped cream looks decadent! I’ll be excited to hear your thoughts about Truly Madly Guilty – it took me a while to get into it because they kept talking about this bbq! It wasn’t my favorite book by her but I enjoyed it.

    1. It was the perfect frosting! I think I have my new go to frosting recipe that I can customize with a bunch of flavors.
I finally got the question that Eliza/Oliver asked Clementine so I’m dying to know what happens next at the bbq. So far I’m not as interested in it as some of her other books but it’s still entertaining.

    1. So far it’s good. She tells the story 2 months after the bbq and then the day of the bbq (I’m about 1/3 of the way through so not sure if that will stay consistent through the entire story). It’s a little slower than other books I’ve read but I’m still entertained by the story!

  2. Oh man, waffles, quesadilla and chocolate cake in one day! That’s amazing. I spent my weekend on the couch reading & watching Modern Family!

  3. Were you happy with the chocolate cake? It looks delicious:). I always bake in my sweats too as I seem to get flour everywhere even with an apron🀣

    1. Yes I was! I told Alex that I think the cake part is my favorite recipe to date which is funny since the book labeled it as “the best chocolate cake”. Whipped cream frosting is my preferred type so I just need to perfect it a little more. Overall though I loved it!!
I got flour all over me so I was really glad I wore sweats.

      1. That’s great you found a favourite chocolate cake recipe- they come in handy for lots of occasions. I try to be neat, but it never fails that I’m a wreck by the end of baking

      2. I just had to clean the whole kitchen after baking and decorating cookies and I think I still have more flour and sprinkles on me than anywhere else!

  4. How is the book by Liane Moriarty?! I always hear great things about this author, but didn’t know if you would recommend?!

Sausage + waffles sounds delicious right now! Also, your cake looks great!! Yay for baking! The highlight of my weekend was probably getting a new phone by accident. I had my battery replaced, which ended up breaking the camera somehow, so Apple gave me a new phone!

    1. This book doesn’t seem like it’s going to be my favorite of hers. I love Big Little Lies and The Husband’s Secret by her and would recommend those!

I love love love baking. I wish I could bake something every day but I would gain way too much weight lol. That’s awesome! I’m so glad they gave you a new one instead of making you pay. Gotta love good customer service.

    1. I’ll exchange a cake in exchange for you designing the kitchen in my future house since you did such an amazing job in your latest house!
I just read it through since it was good but I wouldn’t recommend the book to others.
