Rain Rain Go Away

Happy Sunday! How’s the weather by you this weekend? It’s been raining on and off for 4 days here. Not exactly the best weekend weather. I hope the sun is shining by you and that you have a great day 🙂

I fully expected to have to run 10 miles in the rain so I was pleasantly surprised when I woke up to no rain yesterday. 10 easy miles to start the weekend. During my run, I was thinking about the progress I’ve made in 8ish months since I started running. Again, this time last year I wasn’t working out at all. Then I started running over the summer and I remember seeing 4 miles as a long run one weekend and now I run 10 miles like it’s nothing. Progress is amazing my friends!

Maybe this is just me but when I get home from a long run I am not hungry. When I was meeting girls for a pedicure I few weeks ago, I almost threw up because I tried eating right away (real talk my friends!). Since I know this about my body, I never eat until I’m actually hungry post run so I’ll shower and get ready for my day before making breakfast. To refuel, I had an orange and a scrambled egg. Thank goodness citrus is in season right now because I can’t get enough of it.

Broccoli Cheddar from Panera

After eating, I headed out to run a bunch of errands. I stopped at Macy’s to return something and proceeded to buy a new shirt, a Target run and then the library. Alex was still feeling a little under the weather and requested mac & cheese from Panera. It’s right by the library so I stopped in to grab takeout. I opted for broccoli cheddar soup which is definitely not good for you but it’s too tasty to pass up. Is it just me or did the servings at Panera get smaller yet their prices went up? I feel like every time I go in the sizes are smaller. Maybe it’s just me though!

Since it was rainy and gross, I settled in on the couch after eating to read. I’m still making my way through Before the Fall, It’s a good one! Until a certain point, I thought I knew why the plane crashed and then something happened in the book and now I think I’m completely wrong. Reading for hours made me hungry again so I snacked on some carrots and hummus while I read more.

Eventually it was time for dinner which meant pizza! I was at the grocery store a few weeks ago and pizza crust was on sale so I stocked up on a couple and threw them in the freezer. I pulled one out for an easy and delicious meal. We opted for half cheese and half pepperoni. If I said it hit the spot, it would be an understatement.

The rest of the night was spent cuddled up on the couch watching National Treasure. This movie was one my family saw in 2004 on Christmas Eve for our tradition. It’s still such a good movie. I loved it then and I love it now. Just far fetched that you know it’s not true but not so out there that you couldn’t not see it happening either.

Question of the day: What’s the weather by you like?

  1. rainy here too since Wednesday we have had rain at some point in the day. the last few days it’s rained almost all day long. I too have found Panera is changing everything: portions, prices and even recipes on some cases. I hate when they change breads or fillers without tell you. there is nothing on the menu in the store to show any of the random changes. we hardly go there anymore and we used to go almost every weekend for a while.

    1. This was the first time I went to Panera in months. A few years ago, they get rid of one of my favorite paninis and since then, prices have gone up, portions got smaller and recipes changed to. Don’t get me wrong, I love that they are taken out any bad for us ingredients! I think more places should do that but don’t charge me more and give me less food.

  2. We had snow all day Friday and yesterday and today have been beautiful sunshine!
I’ve seen my running get faster, but I still find the long runs, long:(

  3. Oh man, that soup looks delicious! The weather is freezing here, so cold I opted to run 9 miles on the treadmill on Saturday. Ugh.

  4. I DEF feel like Panera’s prices keep going up. I got a $12 meal there the other day… I feel like Panera used to be like $8? Go figure… I think the sandwiches are smaller… but the salads are bigger.

    1. It’s so weird! I used to be able to get a full meal and drink for under $10 and now it’s closer to $15. Maybe because the last time I got a salad it was with the you pick 2 but it seemed small to me.
