Mondays Are For Speed Workouts

Hello! How was your Monday? Mine was pretty good. I got in a nice run and then relaxed the rest of the night. Now I’m soaking up the last bit of sun we’ll have since we’re supposed to get hit with another nor’easter. This time they are calling for 8-12 inches… I knew the nice February weather was too good to be true! Instead of dreading the weather, let’s go back to yesterday when snow wasn’t on my radar. Staying up later than normal to watch part of the Oscar’s came back to bite me in the butt Monday morning. I was a little sluggish getting out of bed. Luckily hopping in the shower really woke me up before I got ready. Breakfast was some scrambled eggs and an oatmeal muffin. Am I the only one who eats the same thing for breakfast months on end? I kind of hope not. It’s just so easy to get into a morning routine with this!

At work, I was excited when I looked at the clock and saw it was 11:45. So close to when I take my lunch which meant I was close to my reading time. Come Sundown has me hooked. I enjoy that it’s mostly told in the present day but there are flashbacks to the 90s with one of the characters who was abducted. I’m dying to see what happens in it!

Once work was over, I threw on my running clothes and headed out to run. The workout was a lactate threshold with 8 x 1km repeats. Aside from accidentally lapping my watch halfway through on of the repeats, it was a great workout! There was wind so part of each interval was into the wind. It was resistance training and cardio in one. Total for the day with warm up and cool down was 7 miles plus a quick circuit when I got home.

Roasted Potatoes

Alex was at a work event in northern New Jersey so it was just me for dinner. I roasted two potatoes (I was hungry!) while I got everything ready for my day. Once the potatoes were done I topped it with lots of nutritional yeast, ketchup and hot sauce. I really liked the cheesy flavor from the yeast and will be adding it from now on. While I ate, I finished Chicken Little because that’s what us mature 22 year olds do with our time.

After dinner, I got comfy on the couch and typed this post up. Then I grabbed my book to read more. Let’s keep this between us but I fell asleep for a few minutes before Alex got home πŸ˜‰ Once he was home, and we turned on an episode of The Office before heading to bed.

Question of the day: What’s a good movie or show to watch on nights when it’s just me? I’m in the market for a good one!

  1. I watched ALL of 30 Rock and Parks and Rec when I was a new grad. At that point in my life I related so hard to the “functionally dysfunctional” main characters on those shows!

    I have made my way through the office as well. I’ve watched a variety of shows on Netflix/Amazon Prime: the Crown, Call the Midwife, Man in the High Castle, This is Us, When Calls the Heart, Fixer Upper, any cooking show. And then of course you can’t go wrong with Friends πŸ™‚

    Im the same way with eating the same thing for breakfast all the time! We rotate 3(ish) different things but it’s typically the same type of thing over and over again! “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, right?! πŸ˜‰

    We watched “The Push” the other night on Netflix and it was C-R-A-Z-Y!! You should watch it!!

      Yes exactly! Why change up breakfast when it keeps me full almost all the way until lunch. Just an orange an hour or so before lunch and I’m set.

    1. Gilmore Girls is one of my favorite shows Kaitlyn! Except the reboot, I wasn’t a huge fan of that. I love food shows and traveling so I’ll definitely check out SFP. Thank you for all the recommendations πŸ™‚

  4. I totally go through breakfast food phases where I’ll eat the same thing every day for months. For a while it was Kodiak Cakes waffles, and then after that, it was stovetop oatmeal with almond butter and blueberries. I’ve actually been switching it up more lately, but who knows what my next phase will be. πŸ˜‚

  5. sounds like you had a good day. I often think I should eat the same thing for breakfast, but I can’t. I get bored too easily and just need something different. My husband eats the same thing every day and would for lunch too, his company provides lunch so he doesn’t have to worry about that. I say what ever works… go with it

    1. I think I’m okay with eating the same thing all the time because I know the timing for everything. Plus the muffins can be customized so it’s not exactly the same all the time right? That’s awesome your husband’s company provides lunch!

  6. I eat exactly the same thing for a week at a time- just easier and that way my life doesn’t revolve around food!
    Thanks for the idea of putting nutritional yeast on my potato!

    1. I know a lot of people who will prep an entire weeks worth of food. I can’t do that but I can eat the same breakfast for months on end lol.
      You’re welcome! I would play around with the amount to start until you find what works for you.

      1. I love nutritional yeast on popcorn but hadn’t thought of putting it on my potato- that’s dinner this week so I’ll have lots of times to get the amount right!

      2. I tried it on popcorn once and wasn’t a huge fan to be honest! I also added a little butter so maybe that’s why. Now I want popcorn to try the yeast on it lol. Let me know your thoughts once you eat dinner πŸ™‚

  7. Love a good Monday workout! Way to go. I always eat breakfast once I get to the office, so it’s usually a Greek yogurt with granola or a protein bar. I wish I got up early enough to eat scrambled eggs every morning. As far as shows, Friends, 30 Rock and Modern Family are always classics to watch before bed! Although we just started The Crown and are slightly addicted.

    1. Greek yogurt is the best. I always have it as my afternoon snack! All of those shows are so good. Alex and I watch The Crown together so I would feel bad finishing the last few episodes without him. I’m obsessed with it though!
