Going The Extra Mile

Hello friends! How are you today? I hope your weekend is going great so far. Have a great day πŸ™‚

Saturday started out with what was supposed to be a 7 mile run…The loop I picked was 8 miles. Oops! Luckily that’s not a huge deal but I felt silly when I saw how much farther I had to go once the workout was supposed to be over. The workout was 8 x 3 minute lactate threshold paced intervals. Honestly I didn’t hit the pace for any of the intervals because my legs were dead and heavy. That’s okay though. I pushed myself and gave the effort which is what matters! Plus I ran an extra mile so that counts for something right?

When I got home, I had a long foam rolling and stretching session. Then I hopped into an epsom salt bath to help my muscles relax. After a shower, I got dressed and headed out the door. Back at the end of January/beginning of February, I got a message on Instagram from Rachel over at Rachel Gains. She asked if I wanted to meet for brunch one day since we’re both fairly new to New Jersey. I agreed and we were finally able to meet atΒ Le PeepΒ in Edison. It was such a fun time! I got the breakfast burrito with chorizo and ate all of it. Apparently I was hungry lol.

After saying goodbye to Rachel, I headed to run some errands before going home. I promptly sat on the couch to read more ofΒ The Girl Before. My eyes started to get really heavy so I fell asleep for a quick power nap and woke up feeling like a new women. A while later, I got hungry and put together a big snack/small lunch to enjoy. Celery, carrot, pretzels and spicy hummus. I ate and read for another hour or two.

Cheeseburger, Edamame, and Roasted Potatoed

Eventually it was time to get dinner ready so I chopped a potato and threw it into the oven to roast. I started to get hungry while prepping the potato so I ended up snacking on an orange before dinner. Alex worked on getting some ground beef made into burgers and grilled those up. A bag of edamame later and dinner was served. I feel like I haven’t had a burger in forever and it tasted so good.

After dinner was all cleaned up and everything was put away, I poured a glass of wine and got back to my book. I ended up finishing it yesterday as well. I didn’t think it would end the way it did but I really enjoyed it! Definitely a really interesting concept. The chapters all start with a moral dilemma type question that were tough to come up with answers to. Overall, I enjoyed the book being told from two women’s perspectives a few years apart. I recommend it if you enjoy thrillers!

Alex and I watched another episode of The Roosevelt’s documentary. Well Alex watched it very intently while I went through some clothes that have been piling up in the closet to donate. Does anyone else just keep a giant pile of donations that you add to until you make the trip? I really hope we aren’t the only people! It’s just easier that way to me. I fell asleep on the couch after everything was done while watching the show. Once the episode ended, Alex woke me up and we headed to bed.

Question of the day: Have you ever accidentally ran farther than you planned on?

  1. I keep going back and forth on that book — it sounds good but also sounds kinda strange, haha! Was the ending a little out there, or was it pretty good?

  2. Oh I was already craving a burger and now I really am!
I keep adding to a pile in my entrance closet and it lets me figure out if I really want to get rid of that article or not, then every few months I gather it all up and donate it. Well really about theee times a year:)

      1. Oh probably a better location as I can ignore mine for way too long. It’s great though as sometimes I end up wanting something and can still go get it.

  3. I usually have two piles of donation items one for the boys stuff and one for mine and Richard’s. When we lived in Orlando the Goodwill drop off was in the plaza with the grocery store and I still put off dropping stuff off. Here I’d have to make a special trip, and still have yet to drop anything off. I have stuff in my room and in the garage to go. Hmmm guess I should think about it soon

    1. I had to make a special trip to. The donation bin isn’t that far from us but there’s nothing else in that general area that that I stop by a ton. It kind of stinks but I know the time is well spent since someone can enjoy the items much more than we do.
