Allergies Are Here In Full Force

Hi friends! How are you doing today? I hope you’re doing better than me right now. Allergies hit me like a ton of bricks this year. Well actually I just think it’s allergies but it’s the same symptoms as a cold so I’m just guessing to be honest. Fingers crossed it is allergies so some medicine can just kick the symptoms to the curb. Have a great day 🙂

When I woke up yesterday morning I was feeling nice and refreshed and ready to tackle the week. Bailey and I had a little play time once I was ready for work. For breakfast, I fried two eggs and grabbed an oatmeal muffin to enjoy as well.

During lunch at work, I started a new book. I never finished The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand but I was noticing that I wasn’t looking forward to reading it and would opt to watch tv instead of read. In order to get back into reading, I knew I would need something different to read. So I dug into my pile of books that I own and pulled out Where They Found Her by Kimberly McCreight. It’s the story of an ideal suburb that is shocked when a baby’s body is found in the woods near the town’s prestigious university. That’s about all I can say right now but I think it’ll be a good one!

Throughout the day, I noticed that the slight runny nose I woke up with was progressing and other symptoms were coming into play. I started sneezing a bunch and was cold even though I had a sweater on. The symptoms all point to either allergies or a cold but my guess is allergies since it came out of no where. I figured I would take Bailey for a little walk while Alex was on a work call after work and see how I felt. Oh my word, I was not feeling it just on our walk! My plan for a run got thrown out the window at that point since just walking had me breathing hard because of congestion.

The rest of the night was spent in pjs and on the couch watching tv. We had planned on leftovers for dinner but it didn’t sound good. Alex was a gem and went to our favorite diner to get grilled cheese and soup. So good! It was perfect and just what I needed for the night. I fell asleep on the couch before 9 then went to bed and started to watch The Office with Alex where I think I was up for 5 minutes before falling asleep.

Question of the day: Do you have bad seasonal allergies this year?

  1. So sorry about your allergies! Mine are steadily getting worse…my husband actually gets allergy shots because his are so’s made a huge difference!

    1. That’s crazy! I’m taking some Benadryl allergy now but it’s almost out so I’m definitely going to make a pit stop at a Target or CVS soon to grab some more medicine. I just hope its actually allergies and not a cold or anything.

    1. That’s insane! I think allergies hit especially hard this year since our winter was so bad? I honestly don’t know but I feel less than stellar. Hopefully you get some relief soon Chelsea!

  2. Ohhh I hope you feel better. I have awful allergies and somehow like an idiot ran out of zyrtec this weekend in all the craziness and am totally feeling it. I’ll be heading to the store today!

  3. Allergies are the worst!! Mine haven’t been too bad but I’ve been getting some really bad headaches because our weather keeps fluctuating 15 – 20 degrees with each day. I love spring but come on!

  4. Yes my allergies have been awful. The drastic weather changes down here have not been helpful! How sweet of Alex to take care of you! Feel better and enjoy the snuggles with Bailey!

    1. I’m convinced because winter lasted so long allergies are worse this year. He was so sweet to get takeout last night. Thanks so much Shannon! I hope your allergies aren’t as bad as mine are!

  5. It sounds like allergies are hitting people hard this year! I hope you feel better soon! That book sounds sooo good! I’ve read her book Reconstructing Amelia and liked that.

  6. Ahhh no! Not the allergies! My husband and I usually get them but we haven’t quite yet… I’m just waiting for them to hit. That book looks so up my alley- I love a mystery/thriller! Must let us know how it is. Grilled cheese and soup is an essential during allergy season! Hope you are having a great week, love!

    1. I hope you guys miss out on allergies!! I felt horrible yesterday from them. Getting hit by a truck would have probably felt better than yesterday’s allergies lol. I will definitely keep you posted on the book! Thanks for stopping by Mackenzie! Enjoy the rest of your week 🙂

  7. Oh Maureen- sorry to hear about the allergies:(
Your new book sounds great! Will you intersperse the Fountainhead or is that a DNF?

      1. It’ll be interesting to see if you go back- tough to not finish when Alex asked you to read it. I’ve finally learned to just admit the book’s not for me

      2. I can usually tell by about page 50 is a book isn’t for me and will just put it to the side. The Fountainhead is over 700 pages though and I was about halfway done so the stubborn part of me wants to finish it but the other part just doesn’t find it that interesting

      3. I have to admit I’ve never even managed to start it so you’re doing better than me! I used to think I had to finish every book I started but a great librarian pointed out there are too many good books for that philosophy
