Sunday In Pictures Vol. 6

Happy Monday! How was your weekend? I don’t know about you, but I’m really looking forward to the short work week before Thanksgiving. Have a great day πŸ™‚

We wanted to make waffles for breakfast but then realized we were out of mix and somehow it wasn’t on the grocery list so I didn’t buy it. We made bacon and eggs instead.

I started my newest book: “My Notorious Life” by Kate Manning.

A bowl of homemade Kraft mac n cheese for lunch.

After lunch, I picked up our race numbers and shirts for the Turkey Trot on Thursday. I can’t wait to force include Alex in my family’s tradition.

A visit to Alex’s parents to pick up his sister for the afternoon and see the dogs.

Playing three way war before we headed out to dinner.

Dinner was delicious! I had chorizo meatloaf and the portion was HUGE! I have at least one meal of leftovers from it.

Question of the day: What was the highlight of your weekend?

A Baby Sized Burrito

Happy Sunday loves! How has your weekend been so far? My Saturday was a little lazy but I needed it to be honest.

I had every intention of waking up and heading out for my run a little after 6:30. And at 7:40 I was out the door! After a few late nights earlier this week, I needed to be a little lazy in bed and it was worth it. When I started my run, I still wasn’t feeling it but got in my groove and did 7 miles at a 9:55 average pace. Only 1 mile was over 10 minutes which I was happy to see. I’m slowly working on getting all of my long runs under 10 minute paces.

I showered and enjoyed my tea on the couch while readingΒ “The Little Paris Bookshop”. It started off strong but I lost a little bit of interest around the half point. Luckily it picked back up though and I’m interested to see how it ends.

Alex and I started to get hungry and decided to get something for lunch. We weren’t feeling any of our usual options so we decided to try a Mexican spot near our apartment for the second time. The burrito was huge and about the size of a small baby! I got mine with brown rice, black beans, barbacoa, lettuce, sour cream, cheese and jalepenos. The food was good but both mine and Alex’s burritos started falling apart shortly after we started eating.

After lunch, Alex did some school work and I continued to read. The weather started to get grey and dreary so I took a little power nap on the couch. Alex finished his homework and watched some college football. Honestly, I have no idea who was playing since I was too busy reading.

When it was time for dinner, I prepped potatoes and broccoli to roast in the oven. While those were cooking, Alex turned on Live PD to have in the background as he cooked burgers. Live PD is basically Cops but in real time…not the best show ever but it sucks you in! Dinner was delicious! I haven’t had a burger in so long so it was extra tasty. If you’re a cheeseburger fan try white American cheese, total game changer in my opinion.

Like the party animal I am, I spent the rest of my Saturday on the couch hanging out with Alex and reading so I could finish the book. I can confidently say that I wasn’t a huge fan. It started out by grabbing my attention but once I got halfway through it just kinda got boring to me. I wouldn’t say this is a must read in my opinion. After I finished reading, I headed to bed.

Question of the day: What’s your go to order at a Mexican restaurant?

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend and have a wonderful week. Enjoy your day πŸ™‚

Sunday started out with a little reading in bed. I wasn’t ready to get up just yet.

An asiago bagel with cream cheese for breakfast. A local bagel shop sends out coupons for we got 8 for the price of 6 and will freeze majority of them for the future.

Taking my time to drink my tea while relaxing for a bit (and watching Stranger Things)

Making a list of the errands I have to run so I don’t forget anything.

A trip to the library was much needed! I got 3 books that I”m excited to read.

Folding laundry while listening to Up and Vanished. I’m a little behind on my podcasts so I’ve been playing catch up.

A ham sandwich with pretzels and hummus for lunch.

Homemade pumpkin bread makes the apartment smell so good! I will have a recipe up for this later this week πŸ™‚

What getting ready for the morning looks like for us. A slight mess but it makes getting out the door so much easier.

Reading by the fire before dinner. Are you sick of fire pictures yet?

Leftover chili for dinner. If you haven’t tried putting chili over noodles, I highly suggest it! Alex says it makes the meal.

Movie night with “When Harry Met Sally”. Neither Alex nor I had ever seen it.

His and her’s slices of pie for dessert during the movie.

Question of the day: What was the high from your weekend?

A Chili Run

Happy Sunday friends! How has your weekend been so far? Did you do anything fun yesterday? We’re keeping warm over here, yesterday was cold! Have a great day πŸ™‚

I woke up to go to the bathroom around 6:05am and figured I may as well just stay in bed for a few extra minutes before heading out on my run. I’m glad I stayed up because apparently I forgot to set my normal Saturday morning alarm. I layered up and headed out for 5 miles. When I got home a little before 8am, I looked at the weather and saw it was 24 degrees but felt like 17. I was so glad I hadn’t looked before my run! 2 were at a moderate pace and the last 3 had sprints and recoveries throughout them.

When I got home, I was so happy to have the heat on in our apartment. I stretched and put my tea kettle on before taking a shower. Not sure if anyone has picked up, but I don’t drink coffee but am an avid tea drinker! While I got ready, I sipped on a mug of tea that I got in Paris when I was there earlier this year. It helped to warm me up.

Alex had some schoolwork and am exam to take so I figured that plus the fact that it was cold meant I could totally relax on the couch for a bit. I grabbed the fall issue of The Magnolia JournalΒ by Chip and Joanna Gaines. My parents gave me a subscription for my birthday which was so sweet of them. I’m a tad ashamed to admit that I haven’t read the summer issue yet though… Anyways, the fall had some soup and apple recipes in it. Needless to say I am going to make all three soups at some point this fall and winter. They looked so good!

Once Alex finished his exam, we popped leftovers from dinner on Wednesday night into the oven to warm up. I was pretty hungry then (even though I split a pb sandwich with Alex earlier) and no prep for lunch was awesome. The cheesesteak really hit the spot, even if the bread was a little crispy. Sometimes it happens with leftovers but oh well!

Alex had to go to Nordstrom to exchange a dress shirt and I decided to take the ride so I could look at potential Christmas gifts for a few people. Since we’re celebrating in Chicago, I’m going to send all of my family gifts home before then but wanted to see some things before buying them. On our way back, we drove by a nursery that was selling fire wood and picked up a trunk full. We have a full rack inside and a good size stack outside. Hopefully it lasts us a while but at the rate we’re using the fireplace, we’ll probably need more in a few weeks.

When we got home, Alex turned on some college football while I started on dinner. I have been wanting to make chili and it seemed like the perfect night since it would be so cold out. I had never made chili before so I kind of threw it together and used my dad’s recipe for inspiration. Once the meat was cooked and everything was simmering, I plopped on the couch to read more of my book. It’s good so far and told from four different character’s perspectives which I enjoy. While I read, Alex put on a little concert for me and played the guitar.

Finally it was time for dinner. I was excited to try the chili out. I didn’t find the chili to be that spicy so I’ll need to work on that next time. Otherwise, it was tasty and so filling.Β  This is a Midwest thing apparently but I put chili on pasta. I topped it all with sour cream, cheese, and oyster crackers. Chili is the perfect meal for a cold night.

img_5345Once dinner was cleaned up, we added another log to the fire and watched Stranger Things. We finished the first season finally! After the episode, we had a piece of pumpkin pie. Alex’s mom’s office had a Thanksgiving lunch and there were so many leftovers so the boss told his mom to take a bunch of it home for the kids. We ended up with a whole pie lol. It was good but after I was stuff from so many filling foods.

Happy Monday everyone! How was your weekend? Mine was the perfect mix of relaxing and busy. Have a great day πŸ™‚

Sunday mornings tradition of pancakes was back in swing.

Some tunes to get our day going.

Online shopping the new Magnolia collection at Target. I can’t decide what I want!

While Alex took an exam, I watched some YouTube videos while folding laundry and cleaned then organized my dresser, which was much needed!

Leftovers fromΒ Cafe Carriage HouseΒ for lunch. I seriously need another Chipotle chicken panini in my life.

A midday trip to Target for a couple necessities. The Hearth and Hand line was just as cute in person as it was online. I managed to not buy anything but I’m sure I will soon.

Exchanging Alex’s birthday gifts at the mall and outlets on the 60 degree day in November…Fall is nonexistent here in New Jersey this year.

The perfect dinner for Sunday night – pasta and red wine.

My favorite fall candle from Bath and Body Works is Mahogany Teakwood. The scent is amazing and I need to pick up a few more!

More Stranger Things since I’m still on the first season.

Cake for dessert. This picture is from Saturday because the leftovers got a little squished in the container and didn’t look pretty anymore πŸ™‚
