Belated Valentine’s Day Date

Hello and happy Sunday! How is your weekend so far? Today I’m checking in with a full heart and belly. Yesterday was busy in a good way for me. I hope you’re having a great weekend!

Saturday started nice and early at 6:15 so I could get an early start on my long run. After less week’s less than stellar 8 miles, I decided to take it just one mile at a time this week. From the first few steps, I could tell it would be a good one. 8 easy miles at a 10:03 pace to start the day! I saw one other person the entire time I was running and they were walking there dog. It was awesome to get be alone in the early morning, anyone else feel that way about weekend runs?

When I got home, I stretched and foam rolled before hopping in the shower. I had to go grocery shopping so I made some scrambled eggs to get something in my stomach before heading out. I didn’t want to over buy because I was hungry. By the time I got home, put all the groceries away and read a long chapter in my book it was time for lunch. Alex and I decided to use some coupons at Subway to get some sandwiches before we both ran more errands. I got a turkey sandwich with pepperjack cheese, lettuce, spinach, green peppers, cucumber and pickles plus a little mustard and chipotle sauce on it. Delicious and filling before getting my hair cut.

I got home from my appointment and tried to touch my hair as little as possible ha! The woman who cut my hair blow dried it all nice and I didn’t want to ruin it so I made some tea and read on the couch. I ended up finishing Celeste Ng’s novel Everything I Never Told You. It’s the story of a Chinese American family in the 1970s who live in a small town in Ohio. The middle child, Lydia, is found dead in a lake. As one would expect, the family dynamic changes as each of member has to grasp with their new reality and learn to accept what happened. Overall it’s good. All of the themes are very hidden and subtle which I enjoyed. Personally I don’t love in your face themes. A great family drama read if you are interested in dramas.

Finally it was time to get ready for our date! Alex and I decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day a few days late instead of on the 14th. We opted for a new to me Italian place (Alex had been there before and enjoyed it) so I was pretty excited. I got all dolled up and made him take a picture before we left.

The food was so stinking good you guys!! When we arrived, they put a little plate of bread with some red sauce on top to start us off which was awesome as we sipped on our wine. It was BYOB so I grabbed a bottle of white earlier in the day. Once we placed the order for our entrees, the waiter came back with this plate full of an awesome light fluffy bread thingy that was on the house last night. We dined on that and some spicy calamari (I eat only the super breaded pieces). Finally the entrees…yum. I ordered the pappardelle alla vodka which was pappardelle pasta sauteed with prosciutto in a vodka cream sauce and Alex had the linguine scoglio which came with shrimp, mussels and clams in a garlic, olive oil and white wine sauce. We both kept complimenting the food the entire time.

We decided to splurge and split a dessert. The 3 chocolate mousse was so good! It was milk and white chocolate mousses topped with a light and creamy dark chocolate. Then the plate had some melted chocolate and whipped cream to eat as well. I wish I had another piece as I type this… The rest of the night was spent in front of a fire (it randomly starting snowing a ton!), exchanging gifts and hanging out. It was a fantastic Valentine’s Day date to me 🙂

Question of the day: How did you celebrate Valentine’s Day?

Significant Other Survey – Alex Edition

Happy Thursday! I get home from my work trip tonight and I can’t wait to sleep in my own bed. Have a great day 🙂

A few days ago, when I asked Alex questions about myself we had a bunch of fun. So I decided to answer them about him as well. I hope you enjoy!

What is something I say a lot?  What’s for dinner?

Let’s be honest, I would burn cereal if I tried cooking and I get home too late to cook anyways. Better to leave it to the professionals.

How tall am I? 5’9″

I had such good prospects for an NBA career. Alas, the height requirements have relegated me to the world of finance.

Where is my favorite place? On the couch, drink in hand sitting in front of the fire

Okay can’t deny this one, my entire decision on where we got an apartment was based purely on whether or not it had a fireplace.

What is my favorite thing to do? Finance stuff for work

While I do love hanging out and talking to Maureen, I happen to live with this girl that would like a larger space to decorate and live in, thus….my free time is spent as work time.

What do I do when you’re not around? Work

This post is being written at 10:00 PM as I vet three projects in NJ. I just love working, okay?!

If I became famous, what would it be for? Talking / Politician

Much to Maureen’s chagrin, I would love a job in politics. And in all honesty, I could sell paint to a wall if you asked me too.

What is my favorite food? A cheeseteak with ketchup and hot sauce

It’s actually a Phat Lady with ketchup and hot sauce, which is essentially a cheese steak with french fries and mozzarella sticks inside of it (READ: The source of my pot belly in the first photo)

What is my favorite restaurant? Hoagie Haven

The ancillary source of my pot belly. I love this place so much I almost opened a franchise for it in Syracuse, NY. That, folks, is brand loyalty.

If I could live anywhere, where would I live? Greenwich, CT

Allow me to sing you the song of my people.

What do I do to annoy you? Pace around the apartment

Seriously though, I walk marathons while on the phone, and I take A LOT of phone calls. Maureen should get on my pace program, it could really help her with training for her runs.

What is my favorite movie? Caddyshack

I grew up on Caddyshack (I know, my parents introduced me to a healthy entertainment experience when I was younger). Plop me on the couch with Caddyshack or Animal House playing and I’m happy as a clam.

Who is my celebrity crush? You don’t have one

Maureen is my celebrity crush with all the people reading her posts everyday (thanks guys!)

You get a phone call when I’m in trouble, who am I with? Boomer

Can’t deny this one. We had some raunchy times back at Syracuse. I still don’t think we’ve grown up when we’re together.

Question of the day: How has your week been? I feel so out of touch from reality at this moment because of some crazy hours on this rtrip.

Significant Other Survey – Maureen Edition

Hi friends! Have a great day 🙂

Last week, Erinn posted this significant other survey on her blog. I loved reading her husband’s answers so I asked them to Alex over the weekend. His answers are given with no prompts from me so read on to see what he said. Enjoy!

What is something I say a lot? I don’t care / It’s up to you.

This is kind of true, not even going to lie.

How tall am I? 5’5″

Spot on correct.

Where is my favorite place? The library

While I do love the library, I don’t know if I would consider that my favorite place.

What is my favorite thing to do? Read

I do love to read! I would also say I love to bake and cook as well.

What do I do when you’re not around? Read, clean up and prep for lunch/dinner

Again, pretty spot on with this one! This is my typical after work routine.

If I became famous, what would it be for?  Reading (said while he laughs in the corner by himself). “You’re too introverted to be a famous figure”

Can you feel the love in his answer?!

What is my favorite food? Chicken tenders or peanut butter

I’m shocked he didn’t say buffalo chicken. I could eat that everyday. Peanut butter is always a favorite.

What is my favorite restaurant? Johnnie’s Beef

I do love Johnnie’s Beef in Chicago. Can’t wait to be back to get a sandwich and Italian ice!

If I could live anywhere, where would I live? Chicago

Chicago is the best city and I’m not at all biased from growing up there 😉

What do I do to annoy you? “How many answers can I give?” Being indecisive

I’m so indecisive that this answer doesn’t surprise me.

What is my favorite movie? Toy Story

Yep and I proudly own all three on them on DVD. I already said we’re seeing the fourth in theaters when it comes out 🙂

Who is my celebrity crush? Chris Pratt

I don’t really have a celebrity crush actually! I think there are a lot of celebrities that are really talented though.

You get a phone call when I’m in trouble, who am I with? Sarah

This seems true because we would get in trouble together!

Question of the day: Answer any of these about yourself!
